The Quantitative Software Engineer, Senior Analyst - Associate plays a key role in developing software that drives the Quantitative Equity Group (QEG) at TRS, which manages $10 billion in assets. This position involves building mission-critical software for quantitative stock selection models and developing tools to enhance the efficiency of research processes, primarily using Python. TRS is among the few US pension funds with an internal quantitative team, making this an exciting opportunity to be part of a pioneering group. The role includes collaboration with quantitative developers, quantitative researchers, portfolio managers, and data engineers. The position reports to the Managing Director of QEG. This vacancy will be filled at one of two levels. Sr Analyst or Associate. Selected applicant will be offered the position that most closely matches their education and experience. WHAT YOU WILL DO: Software Engineering * Builds software to design and implement quantitative investing solutions to capture pricing inefficiencies, optimally aggregate massive amounts of financial information, and accelerate investment research. * Works collaboratively within the QEG Team to create a reliable and robust foundation for IMD's technology platform, taking a holistic approach to systems performance, software design, and profit and loss (PnL) optimization. * Monitors daily data extract, transform, and load (ETL) production jobs. * Maintains code quality and integrity through continuous integration and continuous delivery/deployment (CI/CD) systems, including Jenkins, Powershell scripting, and Python. * Implements quality assurance techniques and communicates with stakeholders and team members on topics including issues, ideas, and changes. * Assists with writing technical specifications, project plans, and technical documentation for financial and investment systems. * Assists with redesigning existing software systems, investigating new tools to optimize the development process, and makes recommendations to improve applications and processes. * Writes technical specifications, project plans, and technical documentation for financial and investment systems. WHAT YOU WILL BRING: Required Education * Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in computer science, computer engineering, computers and information technology, data analytics, engineering, or closely related field. Required Experience * One (1) year of full-time experience in software engineering, quantitative development, or related experience (Sr Analyst). * Three (3) years of full-time experience in software engineering, quantitative development, or related experience (Associate). * Experience with the Python data science stack, including NumPy and Pandas. * Experience with a version control software, including git. Required Registration, Certification, Licensure * None Preferred Qualifications * Two (2) to six (6) years of experience working with quantitative researchers and developing software in a front-office investment function. * Experience with cloud computing and data architecture such as Snowflake and Databricks. Knowledge of: * Essential concepts in quantitative decision making. * The principles, practices, and techniques of computer programming and systems analysis and design, and of all phases of software development and project management. * Varying technological architectures and technology trends. Skills in: * Adaptive and agile problem-solving. * Critical thinking with a strong quantitative foundation. * Looking at data from an investment standpoint. * Applying software development processes to solve investment business problems; and writing effective programs to solve investment business problems and automate investment business processes. * Analyzing problems and devising innovative and effective solutions, including collecting and analyzing complex investment data and drawing logical conclusions. Ability to: * Contribute to generating returns beyond public market benchmarks through collaborative and innovative ideas and solutions. * Solve small problems in the field without guidance. * Proactively collaborative in a fast-paced environment with engineers and non-engineers. * Establish and maintain harmonious working relationships with co-workers, agency staff, and external contacts.
