Sompo has a unique opportunity for an Quality Assurance Test Lead to join our IT Quality Assurance team.

This role will provide leadership, direction, management, and hands on contributions with an overall accountability for IT Quality Assurance teams across Insurance, Reinsurance and assigned business lines. This includes overseeing a team of full-time employees and consultants; leading and assisting the Quality Assurance team through a process-driven methodology to accomplish and follow project goals and QA standards and practices.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Leads several IT Quality Assurance teams through a clearly defined process-driven methodology to ensure project goals, QA standards, and internal best practices are routinely and meticulously followed.
  • Partners with Business and Development teams to review business / technical requirements and guides and assists QA staff in generating comprehensive test strategy, plans, impact analysis and test cases for effective assurance and testing functions. Activities include creating and executing test plans, authoring defect reports, performing root case analysis and assisting across QA efforts to ensure project timelines.
  • Responsible for managing QA capacity and resources and scheduling QA activities and quality gates for their project teams.
  • Contribute to and help define and establish new set of best-practices, processes, scorecards and tooling for Quality Assurance organization. This is to ensure that overall productivity and quality is measured at all times and improved in line with targeted milestones.
  • Responsible for working with Automation lead(s) and establishing a standards-based automation / performance testing competency with a robust testing framework, testing & test management tools, test data and test cases for key applications across the portfolio.
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining functional, end-to-end, performance and regression test suites that thoroughly cover all aspects of applications across the portfolio.
  • Plays a critical role in ensuring that impact analysis is conducted and reviewed thoroughly and consistently to ensure that right test cases to cover the right exposures are identified and reviewed with project stakeholders.
  • Responsible for planning, executing, managing and reporting for all testing and assurance activities across the project and application.
  • Publishes a standardized QA productivity as well as Project and Release Testing status reporting across all projects / applications on a weekly / recurring basis.
  • Acts as a critical resource in keeping production systems running smoothly and plays a pivotal role in all cutover, smoke testing, triaging and release activities.
  • Manage the overall QA project plan and resource and capacity profiles for assigned business lines. Work with application and project managers on a periodic basis to review plan changes and variations and actuals against forecasts.
  • Perform QA recruiting and vendor management activities. Responsible for hiring and managing employees and onshore and offshore contractors and managing vendor contracts and SLAs four sourced arrangements.
  • Provides recommendations on new technologies, processes and / or procedures in pursuit of continuous improvement of the overall Quality Assurance function.
  • Provides ongoing training and guidance to the QA team.

What You’ll Bring

  • BS CS/CE/EE (MS preferred), or equivalent experience
  • 3 + years as a Software Quality Assurance Lead
  • Experience is required in managing software / application testing for the Insurance industry. Specialty and Commercial LOBs experience implementing new products and platforms is strongly preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge in Automation Testing Tools like HP QTP, Selenium, etc. and specifically how they are used in UI, Forms and Rating testing.
  • Strong software engineering and development lifecycle knowledge
  • Strong hands-on experience with planning and testing UI as well as back-office systems that require Web services or batch-based integrations and implementations.
  • Strong management and leadership experience
  • Excellent verbal / written communication and influencing skills
  • Knowledge and experience with performance testing tools (LoadRunner, AppLoader, etc.) as well as data profiling for representative load testing.
  • Experience with Microsoft TFS and Test Manager (MTM) for test management is preferred.
  • Quality Assurance leadership experience with Sompo’s Guidewire Insurance solutions is highly preferred.

Salary Range: $100,000 – $135,000 Actual compensation for this role will depend on several factors including the cost of living associated with your work location, your qualifications, skills, competencies, and relevant experience.
