About the role

Reporting to the General Manager, Technical Services, the Project Engineer is responsible for planning, coordinator and overseeing the deliver of various projects on time and within budget. You will work on projects that include major maintenance upgrades, green and brownfields construction and operational improvement project predominantly at GMA's Wet and Dry Plants in Geraldton and the Mid-West of Western Australia. You will also have the opportunity to support GMA's global operations.



In this role you will be responsible for:

  • Prepare and manage project documentation including proposals, developing project scopes, estimates and schedules
  • Perform technical design, drafting and specification preparation
  • Develop and improve project management processes and make continuous improvements
  • Responsible for technical support which may include high levels of innovation, and therefore require a robust understanding of the GMA processing plants together with sound project management skills
  • Provide on-site supervision of projects and appropriate contractor management
  • Ensure that works delivered are in accordance with the project scope
  • Arrange and facilitate relevant and required test work
  • Ensure designs within all engineering disciplines are controlled and updated versions always used
  • Liaise with operations to ensure that designs address operability and maintainability challenges
  • Updating of all relevant project control documentation
  • Partake in technical and commercial review processes of different procurement packages
  • Support operational team with Operational Readiness activities prior to project commissioning
  • Support and manage the commissioning activities of projects
  • Regular reporting on key milestones
  • Lead Management of Change and risk management processes




What you will need


  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Process Engineering or equivalent
  • Project management Qualification/accreditation, such as Prince2
  • A minimum of 5 years experience in the mining industry or mineral processing
  • Understanding of WHS management systems and demonstrated application and commitment to health and safety
  • Experience in researching and understanding complex technical information to develop and implement business solutions
  • Able to work effectively with multiple disciplines (eg, mechanical, electrical etc) to deliver projects on time and within budget
  • Proficiency with project management software with knowledge of design tools
  • Proficiency in project design and planning, management, costing and documentation
  • Experience in managing contractors and administering contracts
  • Effective problem solving and decision making within dynamic project environments
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, and experience working with different cultures
  • Willingness to travel to our Mid-West operations, including holding a driver's license
