Our client is a leading data centre and digital infrastructure provider headquartered in Singapore. This firm has rapidly expanded across Asia, operating network-dense, carrier-neutral facilities in key markets including Singapore, Indonesia, Hong Kong, and mainland China
They are currently seeking a highly experienced Project Director as newly created role to lead the full lifecycle of hyperscale and enterprise data centre development projects in Thailand.
This role will oversee planning, design, regulatory compliance, stakeholder management, and execution to ensure the successful delivery of high-performance data infrastructure aligned with international and local standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Direct the end-to-end delivery of large-scale data centre construction projects, from site selection through commissioning.
- Manage relationships with local contractors, EPC firms, regulatory agencies, and government authorities to ensure full compliance with Thai construction codes and legal frameworks.
- Oversee all aspects of design, budgeting, scheduling, procurement, risk management, and commissioning.
- Ensure adherence to health, safety, environmental, and statutory requirements, including EIA and other permitting processes.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders, including landowners, utilities (EGAT, MEA, PEA), and international investors.
- Led site selection and due diligence for Amazon’s hyperscale data centre in Thailand, assessing power capacity, fibre connectivity, land zoning, environmental impact (EIA), and water resource viability.
- Collaborated with regulatory bodies such as the Office of Natural Resources and Environmental Policy and Planning (ONEP) for EIA approvals and partnered with EGAT and other utilities to secure power feasibility and connection.
- Navigated complex permitting and compliance processes involving local zoning authorities, environmental consultants, and legal advisors under Thai law.
- Worked closely with the Board of Investment (BOI) and regional development agencies to secure investment incentives and align infrastructure goals within the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC)
- Coordinated cross-functional teams including engineering consultants, local municipalities, utility providers, and Amazon’s global real estate and legal divisions to maintain project momentum and strategic alignment.
- Directed early-stage infrastructure planning with emphasis on Tier III/IV standards, modular construction, energy-efficient cooling systems, and scalable power distribution tailored to Thai environmental and regulatory conditions.
Key Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in civil, electrical, mechanical engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in large-scale construction projects, with at least 5 years in data centre or critical infrastructure development.
- In-depth knowledge of Thai construction regulations, including EIA processes, BOQ preparation, and NEC standards.
- Proven experience working with multinational corporations - experience with hyperscale cloud or telecom clients preferred.
- Fluent in English; native Thai language proficiency strongly preferred.
