Summary

Under the general direction of the Project Controls Manager, this role serves as a liaison between engineering, real estate, vegetation management, procurement, and construction to support the timely and budget-conscious completion of transmission and substation projects. Responsibilities include:

Primary Focus: Completion Report Process

  • Analyze material, labor, overhead, and other charges against projects.
  • Create and enter reports into the system for review and approval before asset unitization.

Additional Responsibilities:

Forecast & Budget

  • Assist in the review process with transmission and substation stakeholders.
  • Assist in budget development.

Outlook

  • Track monthly progress and perform variance analysis by project.
  • Provide monthly Capex and O&M reports to project stakeholders.

Cost Estimation

  • Develop project cost estimates in collaboration with engineering.
  • Conduct post-construction cost variance reviews.
  • Maintain cost estimate summaries.

Work Requests

  • Initiate work requests and provide timely in-service and completion reporting.
  • Handle journal entries.

Schedules

  • Assist with schedule development and update weekly progress.

Ad Hoc Reporting

  • Support Southwest Power Pool, regulatory, and data requests.

Additional duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • A bachelor’s degree in business or a related field, with relevant experience.
  • General finance experience and proficiency in spreadsheet and word processing software applications.
  • Experience in transmission and substation assets is preferred.
  • Ability to work independently, process diverse information, and communicate effectively with management and stakeholders.
  • Experience with Microsoft Project is preferred.

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities Required:

  • A strong working knowledge of the job types and assets being managed and constructed.
  • A solid understanding of work and business processes related to budgeting transmission and substation work.
  • General understanding of financial reporting and the ability to assimilate information for reports.
  • Ability to work independently, resolve issues with analytical thinking, and use problem-solving skills.
  • Strong administrative and technical abilities to manage large volumes of data, handle multiple priorities, and manage projects.
  • Proficiency with personal computer applications, including knowledge of transmission and substation work and financial system applications, is preferred.
  • Proficient in Windows, databases, and spreadsheets.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to present information clearly to other workgroups.
  • Effective team collaboration and relationship-building skills with customers and work groups.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, self-motivation, and organizational abilities.
