CIVIC ENGAGEMENT PROGRAM MANAGER
Hybrid position in Kansas City offers an opportunity to grow Youth and Government and Civic Engagement Programs in the Midwest region (MO, KS, IA, and NE). Applications accepted until May 16, 2025.
POSITION DESCRIPTION
Under the direction of the Director of Civic Engagement, the Program Manager is responsible for administrative support, logistical support, and program coordination of the Youth and Government Program, specifically in Missouri and Kansas, but also in support of new programs in Iowa and Nebraska.
This position will also provide support across a continuum of programs serving MSAY and designated YMCAs. The Program Manager work cooperatively with all other MSAY staff, local YMCA staff, teachers and community volunteers to provide support for various MSAY Initiatives. They will perform all duties in a safe and prudent manner while also promoting the YMCA core values of honesty, caring, respect, responsibility.
GENERAL FUNCTIONS
A bachelor’s degree in political science (or similar) is preferred, along with expertise or experience working with teens and young people, schools and community organizations. The person filling this position must possess strong organization, human relations, event planning, and project management skills. Knowledge of youth programming, volunteer training, and office technology is also critical. An appreciation and understanding of Missouri and/or Kansas state government and political processes is preferred. The minimum physical requirements of this position are documented in the attached job analysis form which has been completed by the direct line supervisor.
The minimum physical requirements of this position include ability to remain in a stationary position 50%, move freely and lift 25-pound boxes or materials to load and unload equipment or materials, manage equipment, and work on computers and travel to events as required.
