ASK Childhood Cancer Foundation Is Seeking a Full-time Program Events Coordinator. This Position Will Plan, Promote, And Execute Social Events For Childhood Cancer Patients, Survivors, And Their Families In The Richmond Region In Order To Build a Community Of Support. The Coordinator Will Also Lead Four Weeks Of Summer Camp And Manage Program Event Volunteers. Additionally, They Will Work Closely With The Program Events Team To Coordinate How We Build Events Across The State That Are Consistent With Our Culture, Guidelines And Goal Of Creating Community And Connection. The Program Events Coordinator Reports To The Director Of Programs And Works Closely With The Entire Program Team. RESPONSIBILITIES:
Create and implement fun, engaging, creative, and age-appropriate activities for children and families in the Richmond region through:
Eight family events
Nine special population events for preschool, elementary, and teens
Weekly clinic meals or parties
Lead bi-monthly program events meetings and support staff in building high-quality events in new regions that align with ASK’s culture, guidelines and goal of creating community and connection.
Lead planning and implementation of four weeks of summer camp in coordination with the program team.
Prepare and manage event budgets and timelines.
Manage event volunteers, including recruitment, scheduling, tracking, and communication, in coordination with the development Special Events Coordinator.
Manage all event venues and 3rd party vendor contracts.
Plan and implement creative marketing strategies across multiple channels to communicate events with families.
Build and manage all registrations and communications needed for each event including (flyers, postcards, etc.)
Work closely with the development team to help coordinate the holiday adopt-a-family program.
Assess event success and strategize future improvement.
Foster and support the organization’s relationships with ASK families.
Incorporate opportunities for connection into summer camp and events as appropriate.
Manage Facebook Family Group #wellnesswednesday and #feelgoodfriday campaigns.
Manage snack and treasure chest inventory and coordinate donation drives with the development team.
Education, Skills & Experience Includes:
At least two years of event experience and/or experience leading groups of children/adolescents.
Proficiency in Google Workplace and Microsoft Office.
Proficient in basic graphic design to create flyers and social media graphics in Canva and make minor website updates.
Experience using an online email marketing platform such as Constant Contact.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to think creatively and produce compelling copy for use in collateral and across print and digital formats.
Ability to be organized and self-motivated while working in a team.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse community of families, volunteers, and vendors.
Ability to lift up to 35 pounds
This is a full-time position working 40 hours per week in-person and requires some evenings and weekends. This person will be eligible to work from home one day a week. The starting salary is $50,000.
