Salary Recruitment Range: $58,613 - $70,000

This position currently qualifies for a hybrid telework option with routine office and remote workday. The NC Department of Insurance trusts our employees to be self-motivated and successful in hybrid/remote roles. Telework options are subject to change at the discretion of management.
Mission of the Department of Insurance:
To promote a stable insurance market through unbiased regulation and to protect the lives and property of every citizen in all 100 counties while fostering superior, user-friendly service, courtesy, and respect.
Primary Purpose of the Position:
The first is to provide insurance and risk management expertise and resources to state agencies, universities, community colleges and public entities of the State. The position administers various insurance programs required or requested by state agencies and universities. The position may serve as the Commissioner's appointed representative on various boards, commissions, and task forces.
Second, the position serves as the staff administrator to the Public Officers and Employees Liability Insurance Commission (PO&ELIC), which has statutory authority for the professional liability insurance coverage for state employees. The Commission also oversees professional liability insurance for law enforcement officers and public officers of local governments.
Will perform other duties as assigned by management.

* Considerable knowledge of the principles and practices of public and business administration.
* Considerable knowledge of operations and standards in the program area of assignment.
* The employee needs to have a thorough knowledge of the risk management process and how to apply this process to minimize the adverse effects of losses to the State and local government entities at a reasonable cost.

Bachelor s degree from an appropriately accredited institution and three (3) years progressively responsible experience related to the area of assignment; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
