As a Principal Network Engineer at the Home Office, you’ll lead the design, implementation, and operation of critical Datacentre and edge network capabilities. You’ll develop secure, scalable hybrid network solutions across on-premises, private cloud, and public cloud platforms like AWS and Azure. Working with multi-disciplinary teams and third-party suppliers, you’ll drive delivery of new capabilities while ensuring robust, reliable infrastructure. With a focus on Secure by Design principles, you’ll play a key role in protecting our systems and enabling seamless integration across digital services.

What You’ll Do
- Lead internal teams, suppliers, and departments in the design, delivery, and support of network solution.
- Embed security controls into solutions to mitigate risks and meet security requirements.
- Coordinate the investigation and resolution of network issues, while driving preventative measures.
- Oversee resolution procedures and ensure timely updates and progress tracking for users.
- Establish and enforce standards and procedures across the service and development lifecycle.
- Manage resources to ensure effective network integration and operational efficiency.
What You’ll Bring
- Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) or equivalence in one or more of the following areas: Routing & Switching, Data Centre, Service Provider.
- Core technical concepts, switching, routing, firewalling, load balancing, segmentation and network security.
- Key engineering principles and standards, and the ability to inspire others to follow these.
- Managing and delivering complex technologies within time, cost and quality targets.
- Ensuring all solutions are robust, resilient and appropriately implemented, secured, tested and documented.
- Presenting verbal and written information clearly and accurately in language which is appropriate for different channels and which meets the needs of the user.
- Advising on future technology changes and innovations and defining best practice for network improvements and information security.
- Significant demonstration of experience of leading Network design/implementation and/or operations in large scale Private or Public Sector organisations.
