Job Title: Principal Data Scientist

Location: Bengaluru, Karnataka

Role Overview:

As a Principal Data Scientist, you will act as a strategic technical leader, overseeing the design, deployment, and governance of advanced AI/ML systems. You’ll be responsible for solving high-impact problems using deep neural networks, Generative AI/LLMs, and classical modeling. You will mentor other scientists, collaborate with product and engineering teams, and directly influence data-driven decisions across Angel One.

Key Business Problems You'll Drive Solutions For:

1. Architecting scalable User Quality Scoring frameworks for funnel optimization and value mapping.
2. Leading development of LTV prediction models using a combination of behavioral modeling, embeddings, and long-horizon forecasting techniques.
3. Designing hybrid deep learning and rule-based Churn Prediction systems.
4. Driving innovation in Product/Feature Recommendations using deep learning recommender systems and real-time inference pipelines.
5. Enabling Cross-Sell/Upsell optimization using multi-objective modeling and uplift modeling.
6. Designing Loan Risk Assessment systems with explainable AI, integrating macro and behavioral data.
7. Building Generative AI-powered Chatbots for pre-sales, onboarding, support, and user education.
8. Integrating market data and economic signals to forecast user trading behavior through transformer architectures and multimodal learning.
9. Leading efforts in Behavioral Segmentation & Classification using unsupervised learning and self-supervised learning models.
10. Building ML systems for real-time campaign optimization and marketing efficiency using reinforcement learning and deep neural bandits.

What We’re Looking For:

• AI/ML Expertise: Deep hands-on knowledge in deep learning (CNNs, RNNs, LSTMs, Transformers), classical ML (XGBoost, Random Forests, regression, clustering), and Generative AI/LLM (OpenAI, HuggingFace).
• System Thinking: Experience architecting ML systems in production, including model training, validation, deployment, and monitoring.
• Leadership: Proven experience mentoring teams, setting research directions, and aligning technical strategy with business goals.
• Communication: Strong storytelling and data-driven decision-making skills; able to influence cross-functional stakeholders.
• Tool Stack: Python, SQL, PyTorch/TensorFlow, MLFlow, Airflow, Databricks, AWS/GCP, Docker/Kubernetes.
• Domain Expertise (Preferred): Fintech, trading, performance marketing, lending, behavioral analytics.

Qualifications:

• PhD or Master's in Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or a related quantitative discipline.
• 10+ years of experience in data science or machine learning roles, with at least 2–3 years in a leadership role.
