JOB DESCRIPTION

Insight Global is looking for a PLC Controls Engineer to join a team at a global O&G company in Houston, Texas OR Oklahoma City. This person could sit remote (preferably in Houston or OKC) but would need to be able to travel 25% to field and testing sites for the equipment while on contract. There is potential for this long-term contract to convert to a direct hire with the client and at that point would require 5x a week onsite

. This team is in the middle and beginning stages of a controls modernization. They are focused on 8-9 different projects such as controls for blending units for frack pump trucks, sand control equipment, bach processing, etc. This person will need to be proficient in PLC programming for Siemens PLC Controls and HMIs (Human Machine Interfaces). They will also have familiarity with networking basic skills (IP address details, ping a device remotely, etc.), communication protocols (Profinet, Modbus, UDP, TCP, J1939, etc.). They also need to be very familiar acquiring data, controlling equipment, designing user feedback, bug fixes, control loops, integrations in TIA Portal and WinCC.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• 8+ years of experience as a Controls Engineer or Siemens PLC Programmer for Machinery Controls
• Experience with Siemens PLC Controls
• Experience Programming HMI's (Human Machine Interface's), WinCC
• Proficient in Step 7/TIA coding experience
• VFD programming (Bosch, Danffoss, Siemens, Rockwell, etc.)
• Good networking skills
• Deep Communication Protocol understanding
• Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings and diagrams, electrical schematics, piping and instrument drawings (P&IDs), flow charts and cause and effect diagrams.
• Understanding Machine safety
• 25% travel

NICE TO HAVE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• Oil and Gas experience
• Blank sheet programming experience
• Experience with C/C++, Python, LabVIEW
• Experience with Siemens PLC advanced SIM, Modeling, Non-Linear controls
