Role Overview

This is a foundational role on our team. You will take ownership of our existing tech (written in PHP) and help lead the development of our modular, API-first V2 platform, integrated deeply into the Google Cloud ecosystem.

You’ll collaborate directly with the founder and cross-functional ops/product leads to launch and maintain the tools, fulfillment partners, runners, and hotel operations.

Core Responsibilities

• Maintain and evolve our existing PHP-based monolith and legacy admin tools
• Lead modularization and migration of backend to Cloud Run microservices (Node.js or Python)
• Build and maintain internal and partner-facing UIs using React / Next.js
• Integrate with 3rd party services like Stripe, Square, Twilio, Mailgun, Cloudinary
• Manage and monitor infrastructure using Google Cloud Build, Cloud Run, DNS, and Cloud Armor
• Support deployment of tablets and Star Micronics CloudPRNT printers in fulfillment kitchens
• Build APIs and tools for:
• Partner onboarding
• Order dispatch + tracking
• Delivery coordination
• Menu and kitchen management
• Write clean, secure, maintainable code with documentation and testing

Requirements

• Strong experience with full-stack web development (PHP, JS/React, or similar)
• Solid backend fundamentals — API design, auth, data modeling
• Comfort with Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and managing cloud infrastructure
• Experience working with GCP, MongoDB Atlas, and/or migrating to SQL or Firestore
• Confident working across a complex product with many moving parts
• Ownership mentality — able to manage time and deliver high-impact features
• Comfortable in a lean, fast-paced environment with evolving product needs

Nice to Have

• Experience building tablet or kiosk interfaces in Android-based environments
• Familiarity with printer integrations (especially Star CloudPRNT)
• Past work in logistics, hospitality, food tech, or retail POS
• Experience with Google Cloud Load Balancer, WAF (Cloud Armor), or remote device management (Esper)
• Willingness to grow into a lead engineering role as the team scales
