Primary Purpose
Manage the overall operations of the payroll department.
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or relevant field
TASBO Certification, preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills
Knowledge of the rules and regulations mandated by federal, state and local agencies in payroll processes, reporting of wages, taxation, withholding. Including but not limited to Fair Labor Standards Act, Family Medical Leave Act, and Teacher Retirement System of Texas reporting.
Knowledge of auditing and accounting procedures; specifically, TEA’s Financial Accountability System Resource Guide (FASRG)
Knowledge of the MUNIS software system (preferred)
Proficiency in MS Office Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook
Effective communication, management, staff development, planning, consensus building and interpersonal skills
Experience
Minimum five years’ experience in payroll, accounting or human resources

Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals
Posture: Prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting
Motion: Repetitive hand motions including frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching
Lifting: Occasional light lifting and carrying 15-45 pounds
Environment: May work prolonged or irregular hours
; occasional districtwide travel
Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions, maintain emotional control under stress
