POSITION SUMMARY: The Payroll Accountant is responsible for accurate preparation, documentation and distribution of payroll for all corporations
DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Process biweekly payroll using payroll software; validate and balance each payroll.
* Update and prepare all management reporting relating to payroll data.
* Perform a timely and accurate monthly close process for all payroll functions, including reconciliations of accounts and systems and review of all accruals.
* Update the payroll system for all employee changes and prepare related reports.
* Prepare all medical, dental, garnishment and benefit contribution and billing reports.
* Maintain time management software, including time clocks and timesheets access for staff.
* Process new hire paperwork and other related payroll changes and interface with Human Resources as necessary.
* Provide employees with information regarding time recording and paychecks and assist in resolving discrepancies with paychecks.
* Review and upload 403(b), FSA and other data to third party administrator as necessary.
* Prepare and maintain COB calculations for payroll input as needed.
* Calculate and file data for City or other government contract purposes.
* Download and prepare General Ledger (GL) journal entries for monthly payroll, workers compensation, accrued or other benefits.
* Manage benefit administration, working closely with HR, including reconciling medical, dental, life insurance and flexible spending accounts as well as personnel audits, 403(b) process, special projects and reporting.
* Compile schedules to be used by external auditors in their annual audits.
* Compile and manage all information for Department of Labor, Workman Comp, 403(b) plan and other audits.
* Distribute annual W-2s and other forms as needed.
* Special projects as assigned.
* Other reasonably related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS (knowledge, skills, abilities):
* Graduate of an accredited college or university with either an Associate, Bachelor's and/or Master's degree in Finance or Accounting.
* Three to five years of experience in accounting and payroll.
* Excellent payroll administration skills with strong attention to detail, the ability to meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
* Customer service oriented individual with strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills including the ability to interact effectively and independently with peers, other departments and senior management across the organization.
* Working knowledge of UltiPro Payroll and Time Management.
* Knowledge of applicable department and company guidelines and federal and state payroll regulations.
* Ability to demonstrate strong analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills and handle confidential information.
* Ability to document and explain variances to employees and department managers.
* Ability to understand issues, demonstrates resourcefulness, and resolve problems in a timely manner.
* Ability to multi-task; prioritize and communicate effectively tasks, assignments, projects, manage time and deadlines.
* Must be able to work well under pressure, independently and with little supervision.
* Have excellent data entry speed and accuracy with a 10-key calculator / computer keyboard by touch.
* Intermediate Advanced knowledge and use of Microsoft Excel and UltiPro or similar system.

Your final compensation offer will be determined based on factors such as skills, experience, education, and licenses/certifications. The pay range is expressed as an hourly rate regardless of FLSA status. Exempt positions are paid salaried and are not subject to overtime.
