Kforce has a client that is seeking a Payroll Accountant in Baltimore, MD. Key Tasks: * Payroll Accountant maintains financial records and ensures that financial transactions are properly recorded * Ensures the accuracy of entries to ledger accounts and reconciles subsidiary ledger accounts to the general ledger * Prepares complex balance sheets, profit, and loss statements, and other financial reports * Analyzes current costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations incurred to predict future revenues and expenses * As a Payroll Accountant, you will develop and document business processes and accounting policies to strengthen internal control * Prepare and analyze the firm's financial statements, providing explanation of significant variances from budget for operating expenses * Complete monthly account reconciliations for all asset and liability accounts; Research and reconcile all discrepancies in a timely manner * May supervise and guide lower-level accountants* Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required * Strong understanding of GAAP and general ledger accounting principles * Experience preparing and analyzing financial statements, including balance sheets and income statements * Proficient in account reconciliations and identifying/resolving discrepancies * Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and explain variances * Familiarity with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes * Proven ability to maintain accurate financial records and ensure proper documentation * Experience developing and documenting accounting processes and internal controls * Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, Oracle, or similar systems) * Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy * Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
