Job Description

SQL Server Administration and AWS RDS:

• Install, configure, and maintain SQL Server instances (2016 2022) and AWS RDS SQL Server databases.
• Install, configure, and manage SQL Server 2017/2019/2022 on Ubuntu and other Linux distributions.
• Optimize performance of SQL Server databases hosted in Linux environments using best practices.
• Monitor and tune database performance using native and third-party tools (e.g., SQL Profiler, Performance Monitor, CloudWatch).
• Manage database backups, restores, and high availability solutions (e.g., Always On, Log Shipping, RDS Multi-AZ).
• Knowledge of SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) and SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS).
• Apply service packs, hotfixes, and cumulative updates as needed.
• Implement and manage database security, including encryption, auditing, roles, and permissions.
• Design, deploy, and maintain SQL Server databases on AWS RDS.
• Monitor cost, storage, and performance metrics of RDS instances and optimize accordingly.
• Perform RDS snapshot management, point-in-time recovery, and storage scaling.
• Perform IAM roles, VPC setup, security groups, and data migration strategies.
• Develop and optimize T-SQL queries, stored procedures, triggers, and views.
• Provide production support, including on-call rotation for critical issues.
• Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for all database environments.
• Assist in cloud migration projects, data replication, and cross-region setups.
• Support BI/reporting and application teams with data access, schema changes, and performance issues.
• Strong knowledge of T-SQL, database design, indexing, partitioning, and query optimization.
• Experience with SQL Server High Availability and Disaster Recovery strategies (e.g., Always On, RDS Multi-AZ).
• Familiarity with AWS ecosystem: EC2, S3, IAM, CloudWatch, RDS and AWS Secrets Manager.
• Working knowledge of PowerShell or shell scripting for automation.
• Create and maintain documentation for database architecture, configurations, and procedures.
