Carlisle Weatherproofing Technologies (CWT) is a leading building envelope solution supplier that effectively drives energy efficiency and sustainability in commercial and residential applications. We are seeking an Operations Manager in our Bartow, FL Plant.

This Operations Manager position is responsible for providing leadership of the daily production activities for a building construction manufacturer of roofing products both rolled and mixed. This position reports to the Plant Manager for the site. The position is accountable for the effective production management and will use Lean Manufacturing and other process improvement techniques to continually drive improvements in safety, quality, cost, delivery, and service.

Duties And Responsibilities

  • Building an inclusive lean culture of high integrity, teamwork, commitment to excellence and customer focused intensity
  • Lead, direct and coach employee performance through communication and documentation. Drive employee engagement, training, and development to maximize manufacturing, quality, safety, and productivity goal attainment
  • Foster culture of Continuous Improvement; including Lean Manufacturing principles, Six Sigma Problem Solving, Preventative and Corrective Action processes
  • Develop and sustain 5S/Visual Workplace organization, including material flow and inventory management tools
  • Manage the overall production activities to ensure that objectives in safety, quality, efficiency, volume and cost are achieved
  • Highly developed leadership and communication skills required
  • Demonstrated problem solving abilities and creativity required
  • Drives and assures maintenance, repair and housekeeping of the building and all production equipment
  • Willingness and ability to learn all manufacturing processes, company EH&S protocols, HR management and any other aspect of plant functions as deemed necessary for safe and efficient plant operations
  • Knowledge of manufacturing software programs (preferably JD Edwards)
  • Works collaboratively with Plant Management Team
  • Provide support in implementing/maintaining preventive and predictive maintenance programs
  • Manage the buildings and grounds such that good manufacturing practices are adhered to

Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience as an Operations Manager or Supervisor
  • Lean/Six Sigma principles
  • Demonstrated success managing people and operations
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams
  • Experience using JD Edwards (or equivalent ERP system)

Education And Experience

  • Minimum High School diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience as an Operations Manager or Supervisor
  • Strong commitment to statistical accuracy in a deadline-driven environment
  • Ability to work effectively across professional disciplines to set schedules and resolve problems (facilitation skills helpful)
  • Effective oral communication skills
  • Those who supervisor must be able to represent the company and its policies and processes in a fair and impartial manner and in accordance with the applicable laws and regulations
  • Fluency in PC based computer systems, Microsoft Office software and ERP systems

Working Conditions

  • Activities occur inside a building materials manufacturing facility
  • Temperatures exposed to both ambient/outside temperatures
  • Nuisance dust, use of chemicals, working with mechanical parts, pinch points
  • Noise of industrial machinery
  • Typically 40 hour per week with overtime as required
  • Fast paced operation
