Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Analyst to join our dynamic Trading Operations team. The successful candidate will play a critical role in the onboarding of new assets, ensuring seamless integration from a systems and process perspective. The team is already trading in the Day-Ahead, Intra-Day, and Imbalance markets and managing a portfolio of solar generation and gas generation. Batteries are also being added to the portfolio now. We expect the portfolio to grow substantially in the coming years. We need someone with experience to integrate all of that into one efficient asset portfolio ready for the future. This role also involves optimizing trading strategies and ensuring the efficient scheduling of electricity deliveries. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, a deep understanding of Japan physical energy markets, and the ability to make data-driven decisions in a fast-paced environment.


Key Responsibilities:

Onboarding New Assets:

• Lead the onboarding of new assets, including batteries, virtual power plants, gas plants, solar plants, and wind farms.

• Ensure seamless integration of new assets from a systems and process perspective.

• Develop and implement processes for the efficient and effective onboarding of new energy assets.

• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure all technical and operational requirements are met.


Scheduling and Operations:

• Ensure the accurate and timely scheduling of electricity deliveries to meet contractual obligations and optimize portfolio performance.

• Coordinate with grid operators, counterparties, and internal teams to manage daily and long-term scheduling activities.

• Address and resolve scheduling conflicts and discrepancies promptly and efficiently.


Batteries, Virtual Power Plants, and Renewable Energy Assets:

• Integrate and manage batteries, virtual power plants, gas plants, solar plants, and wind farms within the trading and scheduling operations.

• Develop strategies to optimize the use of these assets in short-term and ancillary services markets.

• Monitor the performance and efficiency of these assets and adjust strategies as needed.


Risk Management:

• Identify, assess, and mitigate risks associated with trading activities and scheduling operations.

• Implement and maintain risk management policies and procedures.

• Perform scenario analysis and stress testing to evaluate the impact of market changes on trading positions.


Data Analysis and Reporting:

• Utilize advanced analytical tools and techniques to analyze trading performance and market data.

• Prepare detailed reports and presentations for senior management, highlighting key insights and recommendations.

• Maintain accurate records of trading activities, schedules, and risk assessments.


Collaboration and Communication:

• Work alongside the Trading Operations Manager and interact regularly with the shift traders in the Trading Operations team to ensure alignment of strategies and objectives.

• Communicate effectively with external parties, including grid operators, regulatory bodies, and market participants.

• Provide mentorship and guidance to junior analysts, fostering a collaborative and supportive team environment.


Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, or a related field. A Master's degree or relevant professional certification (e.g., CFA, FRM) is preferred.

• Minimum of 1 years of experience in electricity trading, with a focus on scheduling and asset management.

• Proven experience in onboarding new assets, including batteries, virtual power plants, gas plants, solar plants, and wind farms.

• Demonstrated experience in managing assets within trading operations and ensuring their efficient integration.

• In-depth knowledge of electricity markets, trading strategies, and regulatory frameworks.

• Proficiency in data analysis tools and software (e.g., Excel, SQL, Python, R).

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

• Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
