Position Overview

We are looking for a network-focused Intern with a basic understanding of routing and switching, firewalls, and layer 1/2/3 connectivity.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the deployment and configuration of network devices like routers, switches, firewalls, and access points
  • Performing basic network cabling and connectivity checks
  • Implementing network security policies and updates
  • Identifying and resolving network connectivity issues for users
  • Analyzing network performance metrics and troubleshooting network bottlenecks
  • Logging and documenting network incidents and resolutions
  • Creating reports on network performance and usage
  • Shadowing senior network engineers to gain hands-on experience
  • Participating in training sessions on network technologies and protocols
  • Researching new network technologies and trends
  • Perform other duties as required and/or assigned
  • Employee must be able to perform essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation

Qualifications

  • Pursuing an undergraduate or graduate-level degree in a Networking-related field is preferred
  • A GPA of 3.0 or above is required
  • Basic knowledge of network hardware, firewalls, routers, switches, and access points
  • Basic understanding of encryption technologies (IPsec, SSL) and hot standby protocols HSRP and VRRP
  • Understanding of TCP/IP network protocols, including common application protocols
  • Passion for providing excellent customer service
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment; ability to multi-task, change direction, effectively prioritize, and meet deadlines
  • Interest in being part of a team and ability to work effectively with both local and remote staff, teammates, and managers
  • Must be a team player with good communication skills
  • Believes in delighting customers and treating colleagues with the utmost respect
  • Must be eligible to work for any U.S. employer without the need for sponsorship now or in the future
