Position Title: Network & Integration Infrastructure Architect

Location: Washington, DC (100% onsite)

Duration: 5+ Years


Role Overview:

The Network & Integration Infrastructure Architect will play a critical role in supporting the client’s Enterprise Application Integration Broker (EAIB) infrastructure and execution of the multi-year Modernization and IRA Strategic Operation Plan. The role focuses on analysing legacy middleware systems, designing integration architecture using IBM WebMethods and related tools, and defining transition strategies for hybrid cloud environments (AWS, Azure). The candidate will ensure seamless operation of middleware platforms and contribute to system integration, cloud migration, and observability initiatives.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze and document existing integration and messaging systems built on IBM webMethods 10.15 and Universal Messaging.
  • Design and architect integration solutions using:
  • WebMethods IS, MWS, Deployer, OFI, JMS/MQ Adapters, API Gateway
  • Develop and maintain deployment automation scripts (Ansible) and CI/CD pipelines for EAIB services.
  • Oversee and support production and non-production environments on Red Hat Linux.
  • Collaborate with database and app teams to ensure seamless integration with Oracle DB 19.27 and MongoDB.
  • Implement monitoring and observability using Splunk and AppDynamics for middleware systems.
  • Define transition roadmaps and migration strategies for legacy integration systems to hybrid cloud platforms.
  • Provide operational support for integrations across cloud-native platforms (AWS, Azure).
  • Create engineering artifacts including architecture diagrams, API specifications, and integration blueprints.
  • Support compliance with federal cybersecurity standards for system integrations and data flows.



Required Skills and Experience:

  • 8+ years in IT infrastructure or systems architecture with a strong focus on enterprise middleware and integration platforms.
  • Hands-on experience with:
  • IBM WebMethods suite (v10.15): IS, UM, MWS, Deployer, OFI
  • Messaging and APIs: JMS, MQ Adapter, API Gateway
  • Infrastructure automation: Ansible
  • Monitoring tools: Splunk, AppDynamics
  • Linux (Red Hat) server management
  • Familiarity with cloud services and migration (AWS, Azure).
  • Strong background in enterprise application integration patterns and message brokers.
  • Working knowledge of Oracle 19c and experience with database-to-middleware integration.
  • Experience with architectural frameworks (TOGAF, FEAF).
  • Strong documentation, collaboration, and stakeholder engagement skills.



Preferred Qualifications:

  • AWS or Azure Certification (e.g., AWS Solutions Architect, Azure Administrator)
  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) or equivalent is a plus.
  • Experience with WebMethods CloudStreams or webMethods.io is a plus.
  • Experience in federal government environments (IRS, DHS, DoD).



Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be Federal Tax Compliant.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident (LPR) with required residency history.
  • Selective Service Registration documentation required for males born after 12/31/1959.
  • Subject to background investigation, including tax compliance verification.
