Network Engineer JOB STATUS: OPEN POSTING DATE: 05/06/2025 CLOSING DATE: 05/19/2025 04:00 PM POSTING NUMBER: 049522 LOCATION: Admin Technology Network Systems - 728 POSITION TITLE: Network Engineer JOB DESCRIPTION: Maintain and support the district's network infrastructure, including firewall, network topology, security, routers, switches, remote access, internet, and all related components. DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: * Administer, maintain, and upgrade the district's networking infrastructure and remote access (VPN) for the entire LAN/WAN for all sites in district. * Support and maintain the district firewall system and intrusion prevention. * Work with vendors for maintenance and implementation of technology. * Monitor and support all networking components to ensure network security, safety, and efficiency. * Support the district's network after regular working hours and/or on weekends/holidays. * Troubleshoot any district level internet connectivity issues. * Monitor network activity for security purposes, including for intrusion detection/prevention. * Configure and support most commercially available Cisco networking products. * Configure and maintain VMware server systems and associated backup procedures. * Configure, troubleshoot, and support wireless controllers and wireless access points. * Configure DHCP for network as needed. * Troubleshoot SRST routers, VoIP, and Call Manager equipment. * Support all network services including (TCP/IP, UDP, DHCP, DNS, Telnet, FTP, HTTP, HTTPS, ARP, WINS, NFS, SNMP, CIFS, SMTP, POP3, IMAP). * Manage installation, monitor, and troubleshooting of network security and wireless infrastructure. * Support network services including planning, designing, and administering network systems and services. * Maintain written documentation for network systems, infrastructure, logs, and procedures. * Provide advanced technical support for all network and client issues. * Maintain the district VLAN's on routers and correct subnets. * Experience with in depth troubleshooting and repair of networking problems/issues. * Support the district's VPN and distance learning equipment. * Operate standard networking tools and equipment. * Correct any unsafe conditions in the work area and report any non-correctable conditions. * Follow safety procedures and techniques to perform required job duties including lifting, climbing, carrying, etc. * Maintain an excellent driving record. * Maintain confidentiality of information. * Maintain regular attendance. * Perform other duties as assigned. EXPERIENCE: * 3 years of experience with installation and configuration of Cisco equipment, firewalls, switches, routers, and appliances * 3years of experience with installation and configuration of wireless controllers and access points * Experience in an enterprise multi-site networked environment, including network analysis, troubleshooting, and monitoring QUALIFICATIONS: Education/Certification: * Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience * Cisco certification (CCENT, CCNA, CCNP, CVOICE) or equivalent work experience Special Knowledge/Skills: * Knowledge of ACI data center fabric technology * Skilled in installation of Cat5E/Cat6 and Fiber cable and associated optics * Skilled in monitoring, troubleshooting, and analysis and resolution of network traffic across WAN * Advanced skill in log analysis and interpretation of network data * Familiarity with network security and intrusion detection * Excellent organizational and communication skills CONTACT INFORMATION: Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Maintain emotional control under stress. Regular district travel; occasional prolonged and irregular hours.
