1. Job Description: Network Engineer

2.Job Responsibilities :

  • Facilitate a smooth flow of information and keep our computer networks running efficiently and effectively. These data networks include local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), intranets, and extranets.
  • Build application and systems that apply automation and observability (E.g.: metrics, logs and traces) solutions to manage network infrastructure
  • Participate in system design with users to improve network observability services and create sustainable systems through automation
  • The role will be based in Menara ExxonMobil, Kuala Lumpur Design, implement, and maintain network solutions that provide core infrastructure, including private cloud, and integrate with services and systems running in virtual private and public cloud infrastructure
  • Provide project management for various network activities, including upgrades, implementations, and migrations, offering technical direction and user support as needed
  • Document end-to-end networking solutions to support global deployment of Network services including global backbone WAN, SDWAN, LAN and Data Center networks
  • Work on technical activities as an individual contributor in designing and commissioning networking systems/ solutions
  • Lead resource on project implementation and delivery of network technologies
  • Assess, plan and implement new network technologies/infrastructure as well as changes to existing technologies/ infrastructure
  • Leverage technical knowledge to develop designs and solutions
  • Provide expertise across technical areas while maintaining proficiency in key technical skills
  • Interface with customers and other senior technical professionals in the organization
  • Assess impact of significant changes to systems and supporting components
  • Provide expertise for critical production problem resolution
  • Explore new technologies to improve efficiency and maximize performance
  • Act as an initial decision point for technical solutions within the work group
  • Install, configure and troubleshoot switches, routers and wireless controllers
  • Install, configure network security devices/firewall as per standards & policies

3.Primary skill set (List 3 mandatory technical skill sets) :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology (or equivalent), with focus on network engineering or minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience
  • Extensive experience with network infrastructure and hardware as encryption methods/standards, VPN, intrusion detection, perimeter security, event correlation, authentication services, vulnerability analysis, and incident handling and response
  • Proficiency with infrastructure devices, including switches, routers, wireless access points, controllers, and firewalls
  • Expertise in designing, monitoring, and repairing local area networks (LAN) and wide area networks (WAN)
  • Experience in deploying network virtualization (any technology or vendor)
  • Experience in Network Automation (Algosec/Python/ Ansible/ PowerShell with experience using GitHub and calling API)
  • Ability to program with one or more high level languages such as Python, Flask, C/C++, NodeJS, Java
  • Experience with Network Monitoring and Management concepts (TCP/IP, SNMP, Syslog, Flow, Streaming Telemetry)
  • Experience with one or more of the following technologies - Linux, OpenShift, Kubernetes, Git, Ansible, CI/CD.
  • Experience with manage and troubleshooting OpenSource software/stacks, DB for Posgresql & Casandra,
  • ElasticSearch, Kafka (Messaging bus), Apache Flink, Apache Karaf, Apache Web Server, API manipulation and testing (postman)
  • Experience with network security architecture and implementation
  • Demonstrated expertise in global network design and network technology
  • In-depth understanding of routing protocols (E.g.: BGP) and knowledgeable in TCP/IP
  • Strong understanding of switching fundamentals and routing fundamentals: distance-vector, link-state, and path-vector routing
  • Solid experience with Network Devices and Network Virtualization technologies (routing, switching, WAN/LAN protocols, Wireless etc.)
  • Familiar with SDWAN deployment, Network Automation and performance with focus on capacity planning, performance monitoring and automation
  • Familiar with technologies such as IPS, IDS systems, firewall virtualization, VPN concentrators, DMVPN, certificate handling, encryption methods, NAT (Network Address Translation), DMZ
  • Relevant professional certifications (E.g.: CISCO ISE, CCIE, CCNP, JNCIE-ENT, CompTIA Network+, WCNA)
