Position: Taxonomy Analyst – 100% Remote
Responsibilities:
- Editing the GAO product taxonomy, a vocabulary of terms for tagging GAO reports and similar GAO products
- Evaluating GAO materials and feedback on what should be in the taxonomy
- Taking part in taxonomy-related projects at GAO; most are in planning stages now
- Troubleshooting issues with PoolParty, the interface where the taxonomy is managed
- Reviewing GAO reports for high-level topics; here, the most important task is a once-a-month evaluation whether current reports are tagged correctly on the high level, e.g., as Agriculture and Food
Requirements:
- Requires a Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) Degree
- 2+ years’ experience working with metadata, taxonomies, information architecture, ontologies, and/or knowledge graphs
- Demonstrated experience interacting with stakeholders to discuss terminology and related issues
- Knowledge of RDF and related semantic data standards (SKOS, SPARQL, OWL, SHACL)
- Experience using an enterprise taxonomy system (e.g., PoolParty)
- Cataloging skills
- Experience using MS Excel for data analysis
- Familiarity with government operations and topics that government can monitor, regulate, or manage, e.g., social services, space engineering, medical devices, economic development, etc.
