The Medical Assistant works directly under the supervision of the medical provider to serve a vital role as part of a street medicine team. This position involves driving and working on a mobile medical unit and a multi-disciplinary team to provide transitional primary care to the unsheltered homeless individuals living within the San Gabriel Valley. The ideal candidate must have a commitment to providing high-quality care for complex patients, be dedicated to working and developing a collaborative team model of care. Will be responsible for driving the mobile unit to and from different locations.

Major Position Responsibilities And Functions

• Responsible for the patient's vitals, including blood pressure, weight, height, temperature, pulse, and history of present illness.
• Documents chief complaints as stated by the patient.
• Provides immunizations, draws blood, and performs hematocrit and other basic tests when requested by clinicians.
• Calls in medication to the pharmacy and administers medication as ordered by medical providers.
• Receives related telephone calls and triages appropriately, including managing patient messages per protocol or medical provider instructions.
• Reviews all forms to ensure that charts are completed after each patient visit.
• Responsible for providing final instruction and patient education as directed by a medical provider.
  
  

Requirements And Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Medical Assistant Certificate and CPR card.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Must be proficient in Spanish to effectively communicate with customers.
  
  

DOE: $22.00 - $25.98
