Mechanical Project Engineer\n\nLocation: [Reading]\nJob Type: [Full-time, Hybrid, Permanent]\n\nDepartment: Engineering / Projects\n\nSalary: (£60,000+)\n\nRole Overview\n\nWe are seeking a Mechanical Project Engineer to join our team and support the delivery of complex engineering solutions across a diverse portfolio of MEICA (Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Control, and Automation) and Civil projects. You will play a key role in designing, coordinating, and implementing mechanical systems for critical water and wastewater infrastructure projects.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\n * Lead mechanical design and system integration for water and wastewater treatment projects\n\n * Collaborate with civil, electrical, and safety teams to ensure project synergy\n\n * Manage procurement of mechanical equipment, ensuring compliance with industry standards\n\n * Oversee subcontractor activities, ensuring alignment with project objectives and quality requirements\n\n * Conduct site visits to monitor installation progress and ensure compliance with design specifications\n\n * Engage with clients and stakeholders, providing regular updates and technical guidance\n\n * Ensure strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations\n\n * Prepare and maintain detailed project documentation, including plans, milestones, and risk assessments\n\n * Drive continuous improvement in project delivery and support the development of team capabilities\n\nWhat We’re Looking For\n\n * Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related discipline (Chartered status preferred)\n\n * Minimum 3 years’ experience in mechanical or project engineering within the water industry\n\n * Strong project management and problem-solving skills\n\n * Ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams\n\n * Sound understanding of HSE regulations in engineering environments\n\n * Proficiency in MS Office; experience with AutoCAD, Revit, and MS Project is desirable\n\n * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to foster strong client relationships\n\n * Full UK Driving Licence required
