Summary

Job Summary:

The M&E Engineer will be responsible for the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of mechanical and electrical systems within our data center(s). This includes maintaining and troubleshooting infrastructure systems such as HVAC, power distribution, UPS, standby generators, fire suppression, and BMS. The role is vital in ensuring maximum uptime and supporting infrastructure scalability in line with the company's growth.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Operation & Maintenance:
  1. Perform daily inspections, preventive maintenance, and corrective maintenance on M&E equipment including electrical switchgears, transformers, UPS systems, diesel generators, cooling systems (CRAC/Chillers), and fire suppression systems.
  2. Ensure all equipment is maintained in optimal condition, minimizing system downtime and operational disruptions.
  • Monitoring & Performance Analysis:
  1. Monitor and analyze the performance of critical systems using Building Management System (BMS) and Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) tools.
  2. Log and review environmental metrics (temperature, humidity, power consumption) to maintain service level agreements (SLAs).
  • Fault Response & Emergency Handling:
  1. Act as first responder during system faults or alarms and coordinate with internal and external teams to resolve issues promptly.
  2. Participate in root cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective/preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Project Implementation Support:
  1. Support installation, testing, and commissioning of new systems and upgrades to existing infrastructure.
  2. Work with design consultants and contractors on infrastructure expansion projects and retrofits.
  • Vendor & Contractor Coordination:
  1. Liaise with third-party service providers for scheduled servicing, repairs, and compliance inspections.
  2. Review and verify scope of work, maintenance reports, and ensure work quality meets organizational and regulatory standards.
  • Regulatory & Safety Compliance:
  1. Ensure operations comply with Suruhanjaya Tenaga (ST), DOSH, BOMBA, and other Malaysian statutory requirements.
  2. Maintain safety standards, participate in risk assessments, and ensure proper usage of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Documentation & Reporting:
  1. Maintain accurate logs, service reports, incident records, and asset inventory.
  2. Prepare periodic reports on facility performance, energy usage, and infrastructure health for management review.
  • On-Call Support & Shift Coverage:
  1. Participate in 24/7 duty roster (if applicable), including emergency response support during off-hours or weekends.
  2. Provide technical support during planned shutdowns, facility audits, and data center commissioning activities.


Qualifications & Experience:

· Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Electrical, Mechanical, or Mechatronic Engineering.

· Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in mission-critical environments (e.g., data centers, hospitals, manufacturing).

· Familiar with operation and maintenance of UPS systems, MV/LV electrical distribution, HVAC systems, and BMS/DCIM tools.

· Chargeman BO/AO certification (ST-recognized) is an advantage.

· Effective verbal and written communication in English and Bahasa Malaysia.

· Highly organized, with the ability to multitask and work independently or as part of a team.

· Safety-conscious and detail-oriented in executing technical tasks.
