Summary

The Manager of Database Administration will drive and execute the strategy for technology advances helping transition from data center hosted SQL applications to cloud-hosted service infrastructure. Reporting directly to the Senior Director of Infrastructure the Manager of Database Administration will have high degree of autonomy requiring pride of ownership for the stability and scalability of the data persistence layer. The incumbent will provide technical expertise and data persistence standard methodology guidance to the team as we create our platform of the future.


What You Will Do?


  • Perform SQL Server database administration functions, including maintenance of multiple environments (development, testing, and production), patching, troubleshooting, object maintenance (e.g. partition, table, index, users/roles) creation/maintenance, space management, SSIS & SSRS deployments, and security management.
  • Architect and implement disaster recovery systems and perform regular system backups to protect integrity of financial and other data in order for systems to have 100% availability.
  • Refactor applications and migrate them from on premise data centers to cloud environments
  • Develop best practices and automated procedures for migrating existing schema including functions, procedures, packages and data.
  • Monitor and analyze database performance and make changes to optimize performance
  • Set and manage architectures and ensure they are always on.
  • Planning, implementing and managing capacity planning
  • Develop, maintain and optimize complex SQL queries/ stored procedures to ensure consistent and reliable database environment.
  • Write ad-hoc queries, stored procedures, SQL Agent Jobs, and functions to support the development and management teams.
  • Oversee back-ups and audits to ensure that databases remain accessible, secure, and stable
  • Partner with development and quality assurance teams to deliver robust, quality, on-time solutions.
  • Maintain data dictionary and enforce data standards


Requirements:


  • Bachelor' s Degree in Management Information Systems or Computer Science
  • MCDBA (Microsoft Certified Database Administrator) preferred


Experience:

  • 7-10 years of DBA experience.
  • 7+ years of experience in leading a DBA team.
  • Experience as a thought leader and innovator in the development of new tools, methodologies and problem-solving approaches.
  • Experience architecting, supporting and implementing advanced, strategic database management systems.
  • 7+ years of experience within the financial industry and extensive experience/exposure assisting with front, middle, and back-office business application deployments, and not simply IT systems.
  • 5+ years in PowerApps and particularly PowerBI
  • Strong AI knowledge and understanding
  • Experience planning and executing on data migrations from data centers to cloud based environment
  • Proficiency in SQL Server installation/configuration, patching, troubleshooting, performance tracking/tuning and back-up/recovery.
  • Advanced understanding of SQL Server version migration.
  • Proficiency in database design (Logical and physical)
  • Solid Clustering, mirroring, replication experiences
  • Strong experience with data warehouses
  • Advanced knowledge of SQL
  • Understanding of modern software development practices and technologies such as agile methodologies and DevOps.
  • Big Data experience leveraging a variety of cloud technologies to acquire and transform data for real time advanced analytics will be helpful
  • Ability to work on multiple projects concurrently and enthusiastic to learn new technologies.
