Principal Mechanical Design/CAD Engineer

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Mechanical Design/CAD Engineer to lead the development and optimization of complex mechanical components and systems. This role requires deep expertise in Siemens NX, Teamcenter PLM, and particularly advanced surfacing techniques used in high-precision and aesthetically demanding designs.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design and CAD modeling using Siemens NX.
• Develop and manage Teamcenter PLM workflows for design data and product lifecycle management.
• Utilize Class A surfacing, freeform, and complex surfacing techniques to meet both functional and visual performance requirements.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, industrial design, and product engineering to ensure optimal design outcomes.
• Implement parametric modeling strategies to improve design efficiency and maintain consistency across product lines.
• Conduct DFM/DFA (Design for Manufacturing & Assembly) reviews to ensure manufacturability and cost-effectiveness of designs.
• Support prototyping, validation, and iterative testing of mechanical components and assemblies.
• Drive continuous improvement in CAD standards, surfacing workflows, and design best practices.
• Mentor junior engineers and act as a subject matter expert in surfacing and mechanical design.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in mechanical design and CAD modeling, with extensive experience using Siemens NX and Teamcenter PLM.
• Expert-level knowledge in advanced surfacing techniques, including Class A surfacing, freeform modeling, and hybrid solid/surface workflows.
• Familiarity with FEA (Finite Element Analysis) and simulation tools for design validation is a plus.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a high attention to detail, especially in surface continuity and visual quality.
• Excellent communication skills and a proven ability to lead design efforts and mentor engineering teams.

Preferred Experience

• Hands-on experience with automated design checks, surfacing templates, and best practices for high-end consumer or aerospace product design.
• Background in industries where surface aesthetics and precision are critical (e.g., automotive, aerospace, consumer electronics).
