John Zink, a Koch Engineered Solutions Company, is looking for a Lead CFD Engineer to join our growing team in Luxembourg. The CFD team is part of the Global Product & Technology Group, mainly supporting our customers in optimizing their equipment and responsible to innovate John Zink engineered combustion and emissions solutions. This role is pivotal in driving technology and product development for our systems technology group as well as in supporting our customers for various technology sectors including Flares, Burners, Thermal Oxidizers, and Vapor Control.

What You Will Do

  • You will lead the capability enhancement for CFD modeling techniques of thermal oxidizers and flares product group
  • You will collaborate closely with internal and external stakeholders to identify opportunities for innovation and workflow optimization within the global CFD group
  • You will lead and execute CFD projects related to fired equipment from the proposal stage through analysis, reporting, and presentation – mainly focused on flares and thermal oxidizer packages
  • Foster long-term business growth by contributing to technology, product development, and customer relationships with the goal of creating cycles of mutual benefit
  • Collaborate closely with combustion engineers to ensure the accuracy of CFD results by comparing them with specific test data
  • Utilize CFD simulation capabilities to enhance product design, grow understanding of our technologies, mitigate process/warranty risks, and support business development by showcasing technical leadership and crafting innovative solutions for clients
  • Providing support to the commercial department during the order acquisition phase, showcasing your strong technical capabilities and expertise


Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • You place priority on integrity, you are contribution motivated and promote strong economical thinking
  • You have experience in an international work environment and in working directly with customers
  • Strong subject matter expertise of CFD modeling thermal oxidizers
  • Strong background in CFD modeling air assisted and steam assisted flares
  • Previous experience in other fired applications like process heaters, reformers or ethylene plants
  • Deep understanding of fluid mechanics and thermal sciences, focused on combustion and radiation simulation
  • Proficiency in using CFD software like Siemens Star-CCM+, Ansys FLUENT or OpenFOAM
  • Skills in postprocessing results by using tools like MATLAB or Cantera
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, in the English language
  • Master’s degree in an engineering discipline, preferably mechanical, chemical or computer aided mechanical
  • Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks effectively
