About the Role


We are seeking a highly skilled Linux and VMware System Engineer with extensive experience in the finance/banking sector. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in systems engineering, virtualization technology, and infrastructure management, along with a proven track record of enhancing system performance, security, and reliability in high-stakes environments. This role demands a proactive individual who can effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams to support our critical systems and maintain compliance with industry regulations.



Key Responsibilities


  • System Administration: Manage, configure, and optimize Linux/Unix servers in a high-availability environment, ensuring maximum uptime and performance.


  • Virtualization Management: Design, implement, and maintain VMware infrastructure, including ESXi hosts, vCenter Server, and VMware tools, ensuring scalability and resilience.


  • Performance Monitoring & Optimization: Utilize monitoring tools (OMI, Zabbix, …) and best practices to identify system performance issues and implement appropriate solutions.


  • Security Management: Implement and maintain security best practices to safeguard sensitive financial data, including regular patching, audits, and compliance with industry regulations (e.g., PCI DSS, CSSF, …).


  • Backup and Disaster Recovery: Develop and manage backup solutions and disaster recovery plans to ensure data integrity and availability in the event of system failures.


  • Scripting and Automation: Create and maintain scripts (e.g., Bash, Python, Ansible, SaltStack, CFengine, Powershell, …) to automate system administration tasks and improve operational efficiency.


  • Collaboration & Support: Work closely with application development, networking, and security teams to provide support and integrate systems efficiently.


  • Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation for systems, processes, configurations, and troubleshooting procedures.


  • Research & Development: Stay current with emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices, and recommend improvements to existing systems and processes.


Mandatory Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.


  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in systems engineering, with a focus on Linux/Unix and VMware administration in a finance/banking environment.


  • Readiness to provide 24/7 standby service and support planned outside office hours activities on critical infrastructure


  • Good communication skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of the team.


  • At least upper intermediate English knowledge is required based on the work in international team
