Reporting- Lead Software Architect

Position Overview:

As an Automotive UI/UX Designer, you will play a key role in defining and crafting the human-machine interaction (HMI) experience across next-generation vehicle infotainment, smart cockpit and other systems. You will be responsible for designing intuitive, safe, and beautiful user experiences that align with automotive standards and brand identity while maintaining seamless usability in dynamic driving environments. You’ll work closely with system engineers, product managers, and software developers to bring your designs to life in real-world automotive systems.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design end-to-end user journeys for automotive HMI systems including cluster, IVI (infotainment), HVAC, ADAS interfaces, and more.
• Develop wireframes, high-fidelity prototypes, and production-ready UI assets.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including embedded software engineers and system architects to ensure feasibility and alignment of designs.
• Conduct user research, usability testing, and heuristic evaluations to inform design decisions.
• Translate requirements into intuitive interactions while considering driver distraction guidelines and regulatory compliance.
• Define and document UI guidelines, patterns, and libraries for consistent experience across screens and platforms.
• Stay current with industry trends in automotive UI/UX design, motion design, and HMI innovation.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Interaction Design, Human Factors, Industrial Design, HCI, Visual Communication, or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience designing interfaces and experiences for automotive, mobile, or embedded systems.

Skill Set (Must Have):

• Proven experience in HMI design for Android Automotive OS or equivalent automotive platforms.
• Proficiency in UI/UX design tools including Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch, and Illustrator.
• Expertise in motion design and prototyping tools like Principle, After Effects, and ProtoPie.
• Deep understanding of user-centered design principles and accessibility standards.
• Familiarity with Android Studio and the ability to collaborate with developers on integrating UI assets.
• Knowledge of automotive UI/UX guidelines (e.g., Google’s AAOS design principles, NHTSA standards).
• Strong visual design skills with a keen eye for typography, layout, and color.
• Experience designing for multiple screen sizes, resolutions, and orientations.
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies, including Scrum or Kanban.

Skill Set (Nice to Have):

• Experience with Unity3D, Unreal Engine, or other real-time 3D visualization platforms.
• Familiarity with CAN protocols, vehicle signals, and diagnostic data visualizations.
• Experience in voice UI design and multimodal HMI.
• Working knowledge of HTML/CSS and JavaScript for rapid prototyping.
• Experience in usability testing tools and techniques (e.g., Eye-tracking, Remote UX platforms).
• Understanding of ISO 26262 / ISO 21434 safety and security requirements in UI design contexts.
• Exposure to multi-cultural design environments and international collaboration projects.
