Construction & Geotechnical Laboratory Manager - Ensuring Quality & Precision

We are seeking a Construction or Geotechnical Materials Laboratory Manager to oversee and coordinate testing operations involving soils, aggregates, concrete, and asphalt. This role is pivotal in maintaining safety, efficiency, and compliance with company protocols and project requirements while fostering a productive and well-trained laboratory team.
Your Key Responsibilities
* Ensure Safe & Efficient Laboratory Operations: Maintain compliance with company quality protocols and project requirements while upholding rigorous safety standards.
* Oversee Staff Training & Utilization: Guide, mentor, and optimize laboratory personnel to maintain proficiency in testing techniques and procedures.
* Manage Laboratory Procedures & Quality Standards: Implement policies unique to the lab to ensure all testing services are conducted efficiently and in accordance with industry standards.
* Collaborate on Proposals & Quotations: Work with office management to ensure accurate pricing, proper scoping of services, and availability of manpower.
* Supervise Testing Activities & Compliance: Monitor laboratory work to ensure timely execution in alignment with client specifications and company standards.
* Drive Equipment Maintenance & Calibration: Oversee the upkeep of testing equipment, ensuring reliability and compliance with required regulations.
* Support Business Development Efforts: Assist department managers in optimizing manpower levels and expanding laboratory service capabilities.
* Enforce Administrative Compliance: Ensure personnel adhere to policies regarding reports, expense tracking, time sheets, and purchase orders.
* Promote Safety & Risk Awareness: Lead safety initiatives, uphold risk management policies, and model a safe working environment.
* Encourage Continuous Quality Monitoring: Engage in ongoing quality assurance to maintain high testing standards and best practices.
Required Skills & Qualifications
* Expertise in Construction Materials Testing, Inspection, and Quality Assurance
* Certifications such as ACI, ICC, NICET, or DOT in concrete, aggregates, soil, rock, or road materials
* Bachelor's degree in engineering technology or a related field with 5 years of laboratory testing experience (or 9 years of related experience in lieu of a degree)
* Valid driver's license with an acceptable violation history
* Strong understanding and past experience in laboratory management, geotechnical materials testing, and compliance standards

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $37.00 - $46.00/hr.
