Hiring for Linux Desktop Support Engineer!!!

Position: Linux Desktop Support Engineer

Education Qualification: Any Graduate

Location: Bengaluru, India

Role Responsibilities

• Provide IT support (Single Point of Contact) for desktop-related technical assistance via telephone, ticket system, email, and instant chat messaging tools.
• Coordinate with engineers and users to resolve issues.
• Provide desk-side support for local users and remote assistance for users.
• Diagnose system operational problems quickly and effectively.
• Work with the team to define and implement best practices and standards within the organization.
• Document administration procedures for both routine and complex tasks.
• Automate system administration tasks using open-source configuration management tools.
• Tune operating systems and applications to increase performance and reliability of services.
• Participate in a shift rotation offering round-the-clock support and maintenance during off-peak hours, available every day of the week.
• Coordinate with vendors to resolve hardware and software issues.
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of Linux system fundamentals and common network protocols.
• Experience in Linux support, Mail support, LDAP, DNS, and DHCP.
• Ability to troubleshoot and configure OS, G Suite, and related systems.
• Knowledge of hardware support (Printers, Laptops, System Assembly/Disassembly).
• Experience in remote support.
• Strong communication skills, technical knowledge, and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Familiarity with GitLab, Postfix, OpenLDAP, Ansible installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
• Proficiency in developing and maintaining programs and scripts to automate administrative tasks using various shell scripting languages (primarily Bash and Python).
• Ability to identify requirements, define solutions, and plan/implement necessary changes.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and complete projects with minimal supervision.
• Knowledge of Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) methodologies as they relate to systems engineering.
  
  

Good To Have

• Experience with tools such as Grafana to monitor systems, metrics, and create dashboards.
• Expertise in designing and implementing highly available systems and services.
• Experience in deploying and maintaining automated configuration management tools such as Ansible.
• Ability to build custom packages for RHEL/CentOS using RPM.
• Experience with deploying and maintaining virtualized environments using KVM.
• Familiarity with implementing systems-level security technologies like SELinux and following security best practices.
