Scout Energy is a private energy investment firm that acquires, operates and improves upstream conventional oil and gas and associated midstream properties for institutional investors. Scout’s business is both the management of private energy funds and the operation of the oil and gas assets it owns. The current employee base is approximately 1200 with 200 employees in the Dallas (headquarters) office. This position will report to Scout’s IT Operations Manager as a part of our Information Technology department.
Duties & Responsibilities
Review current IT systems, such as network, software and hardware features for any errors or issues
Maintain essential IT infrastructure, including operating systems, security tools, applications, servers, email systems, laptops, desktops, software, and hardware
Monitor cloud and on-premise resources to verify integrity and availability
Collaborate with employees and department heads to determine which system requirements are necessary to remain efficient
Troubleshoot operational issues, escalate as appropriate and offer solutions
Perform upgrade and patching of servers, system, and applications as required
Work on SQL databases by writing T-SQL code to create reports, data extracts, and visualizations
Build automation solutions using different technology stacks like PowerShell, Python, SSIS, etc.
Design and document system following a standardized format
Instruct other employees on how to use these new systems through training programs and documents
Skills & Specifications
Strong working knowledge of security best practices for Microsoft Azure and other cloud technologies like Azure Active Directory, Conditional Access Policies, and third-party single sign-on technologies
Experience with Microsoft technologies such as Active Directory, Group Policies, Certificate Services, IIS, etc.
Experience or familiarity with relational and dimensional modeling, database performance, development and maintenance
Experience deploying Azure resources and other cloud technologies, including Office 365, PAAS, IAAS, SAAS, Power BI, etc.
Strong understanding of security concepts surrounding operating systems and applications
Knowledge of data modelling and data visualization tools
Knowledge of databases like Microsoft SQL Server and related tools
Experience with security and authentication technologies like SSO, MFA, EDR, SIEM, etc.
Knowledge of PowerShell and any other automation scripting tools and languages
Education & Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
5+ years’ experience in systems analysis, IT infrastructure, and support
Certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect, CompTIA Security+, or similar are highly desirable
Demonstrated experience with cloud platforms, specifically Microsoft Azure
Proven experience in managing and deploying IT systems and infrastructure
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
