What You’ll Do At OhioMHAS
OhioMHAS Information Services is the technology arm of the third largest cabinet level agency in the state of Ohio. We develop and support technology for several critical business solutions used by the agency as well as by county and local behavioral health care providers across the state. We are seeking an experienced and innovative IT Solution Architect (IT Architect/Consultant 1) to join our Information Technology team. This role plays a critical part in aligning technology strategy with business objectives, ensuring that IT solutions are efficient, scalable, and aligned with enterprise goals.
The successful candidate will lead and contribute to the development and implementation of enterprise IT architecture artifacts, provide strategic input on solution design and fulfillment, support effective communication across IT initiatives, and participate in leadership development.
Key Responsibilities
- Publish IT Enterprise Artifacts:
Creates or edits IT enterprise artifacts for recommendation and approval. Artifacts include, but are not limited to: policies, procedures, standards, guidelines, best practices, and position papers.
- Project Planning: Leads complex initiatives to implement organizational improvement frameworks in assigned IT discipline/program. Develops expertise in project management methodologies.
Identifies and mitigates risks effectively and proactively.
- Solutions Design: Collaborates with IT staff, CIO, and IT Managers to design technical solutions that align with agency requirements. Assists in analyzing and supporting the business case for proposed IT solutions. Authors components of the solution’s business case documentation.
- Solution Fulfillment: Provides input and assistance in the development of procurement statements and technical requirements. Supports the agency’s budgeting process with solution-specific insights and planning.
- Communication & Collaboration: Assists CIO and IT Managers in gaining organizational support for IT goals and objectives. Ensures IT communications are clear, concise, and easily understood by both technical and non-technical audiences. Facilitates knowledge transfer and system understanding for IT staff and end-users.
- Research: Conducts, revises, and vets focused research within assigned IT discipline or program area. Stays current on industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies.
- Leadership: Actively seeks to develop advanced leadership skills and capabilities. Engages in continuous self-assessment and improvement. Solicits and incorporates feedback from colleagues and stakeholders
This is an hourly position covered by the OCSEA/AFSCME bargaining unit (union), with a pay range of
36 on the
OCSEA Pay Range Schedule. Normal working hours are 1st shift (8:00am to 5:00pm). This position is located within our
Office of Information Services, headquartered at the
James Rhodes State Office Tower, 30 East Broad Street, 33rd floor, Columbus, Ohio 43215.
Unless required by any applicable union contract and/or requirements of the Ohio Revised Code, the selected candidate will begin at
Step 1 of the pay range schedule listed above, with an opportunity for pay increase after six months of satisfactory performance and then a yearly raise thereafter.
Position Qualifications
The following are the minimum qualifications for this position. For further consideration, applicants must clearly identify how qualifications are met within the education and/or experience sections of the application.
The Ideal Candidate, At Minimum, Must Have The Following
- Education: Core undergraduate program in Computer Science or Information Systems or equivalent work experience AND
- Experience: Minimum 4 years combined work experience in any combination of the following: assisting with development and updates to the strategic Information Technology plan, participating in work groups to author Information Technology plan by discipline/program team and/or leading activities to achieve project tasks/meet deadlines, and performing solutions design for assigned discipline/program team (e.g., software development, infrastructure, database administration, security) including 2 years technology related work experience as specified by the agency position description and vacancy/job posting.
Additional Preferred Qualifications
- 5+ years experience as a C# .NET Developer
- 5+ years of proven work experience as a solution or technical architect
- TOGAF 9.2 or higher certification
- Experience with enterprise architecture modeling tools
