Summary

Description The Knowledge and Innovation Management team within Property Tax seeks a Documentation and Training Development intern. This person will collaborate with subject matter experts to document internal work processes, develop training modules, and write articles and other staff communications. They will learn and work alongside full-time property tax staff on varying administrative tasks. In addition, they'll participate in professional development training and networking opportunities within our organization. As a department, we value collaboration, customer service, and attention to detail. Our staff is dedicated to the community in which we serve. Location and hours: This position is hybrid and will be performed both on-site at the Hennepin County Government Center at 300 South 6th Street, Minneapolis, MN 55487, and remote as job duties require. The first 1-2 weeks of work will be on-site at the Hennepin County Government Center to complete onboarding and new employee training. After onboarding and new employee training is complete, the work environment will shift to hybrid with at least one day in office each week and the remaining work hours conducted remotely, depending on assigned work tasks and the student's schedule. This internship is intended to start in June 2025 and ends in December 2025. The intern will work approximately 15-20 hours per week. Work hours may be scheduled around a student's class schedule but must fall within the regular office hours of Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. While this position is designated as hybrid, based on current requirements hires must reside in or be willing to relocate to Minnesota or Wisconsin. In this position, you will: * Collaborate with subject matter experts to create new process documentation or update existing content on our division's SharePoint site. * Develop training modules using Microsoft Office suite software. * Complete trainings for and receive the DX Champion certification. * Digitial Experience (DX) Champions understand and promote the policies, standards, and resources associated with creating and maintaining digital products within Hennepin County. Need to have: * Enrollment for the 2025-2026 fall academic school year as a junior or senior in a bachelor's degree program in journalism, English, communications, government, political science, history, urban studies, or a closely related field. * Access to a self-supported hybrid office space. Nice to have: * Experience: * Using Microsoft Office Suite or Google equivalent products. * Writing for an organizational newsletter, school publication, online blog, or writing articles published on any platform that is accessible to and read by the public. * Leading a school, work or personal project with multiple people. * Applying plan language and accessibility practice to written digital communication content. * Interest in local government and serving the public. * Effective verbal and written communication abilities. * Willingness to learn and develop new skills. * Ability to: * Work collaboratively. * Take initiative and work independently. * Meet weekly deadlines. * Be willing to work on multiple tasks concurrently and work with supervisors to set priorities to meet deadlines.
