About the role
The successful candidate will be responsible for the provision of the Combat System Technical Data Package (TDP) deliverables to the Canadian Surface Combatant Warship Designer. They will have to coordinate complex technical information across a diverse set of teams. The candidate will require excellent planning, coordination, and interpersonal skills. The role encompasses the following responsibilities:
Manage the overall TDP project and delivery execution
Lead the coordination and alignment of all aspects of the TDP, including GFX, DCS, FMS and Cable components
Lead a small team of ship integration engineers (2-5) to execute the full scope of TDP work
Plan, implement and status TDP tasking using Jira and industry standard Agile project management methods
Effectively manage processes that contribute to the development of TDP artifacts
Routinely liaise with all vendors to ensure relevant Subcontract Data Requirements List documentation (SDRLs) are compliant with requirements
Conduct, manage and close Vendor Furnished Information (VFI) reviews
Routinely meet with both the customer and subcontractors to ensure validity of TDP data
Provide routine metric and status updates
Identify and implement TDP process improvement initiatives
Ensure quality TDP products are developed and delivered.
What you bring to the role
Degree or diploma in electrical, mechanical engineering, naval architecture and/or combined Combat Systems Engineering experience
5-8 years of professional experience
Experience with Agile methods
Demonstrated leadership skills
Vendor management experience
Strong teamwork skills
Strong communication skills
Ability to prioritize competing demands
Additional skills desired for the role
Experience with technical data package management
Experience collaborating with subcontractors
Experience in the cable engineering domain
Experience in the military naval domain
Experience in systems engineering or system architecture within a defense context
Experience in ship platform and combat system design and integration
Experience with classification society rules/regulations
Familiarity with DOORS, Cameo, Clearcase, Clearquest, and Windchill
Experience with configuration management
Experience with Microsoft common office tools
Ability to work overtime when required
Ability to travel
Language Requirements in Quebec
Knowledge of the English language is required for this role as the position described in this posting requires the candidate to communicate every day with a virtual team outside Quebec as well as communicate with different members of the organization, clients and suppliers located outside of Canada. For engineering positions, the candidate must also be able to read or modify technical documents from our main clients and write technical documents for these same clients.
