Macdonald and Company are to proud to be exclusively retained to appoint a Head of HR for a growing real estate investment and operations business with a national footprint and ambitious future plans. This is a rare opportunity to lead the People function in a privately backed organisation entering its next phase of growth.


The Role

This is a strategic and hands-on leadership position. You will oversee the full HR agenda, partnering with the Executive team while ensuring operational consistency and compliance across both corporate and site-based environments.


The successful candidate will bring the credibility to influence at senior level and the drive to embed people strategy directly into the field. This includes engaging regularly with property teams, supporting regional managers, and ensuring people practices are fully aligned with business performance and cultural expectations.


Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Lead the development and delivery of HR strategy and people operations across the business
  • Support senior leadership on workforce planning, organisational design, and change programmes
  • Oversee employee relations and compliance, ensuring best practice and legal alignment
  • Implement consistent HR processes across multiple locations, including on-site engagement
  • Build and develop a small People team to deliver with impact and clarity
  • Ensure systems, data, and reporting frameworks support informed decision-making
  • Lead initiatives to enhance performance, engagement, and leadership capability


What We’re Looking For

  • Senior HR professional with 10 to 15 years of experience and strong leadership credentials
  • Experience within operationally intensive sectors such as property, residential management, PBSA, BTR, or hospitality
  • A balance of strategic thinking and operational delivery, including hands-on ER and site-based support
  • Strong knowledge of UK employment law and familiarity with compliance requirements in multi-site businesses
  • Proven success in building people infrastructure during periods of growth or transformation
  • CIPD Level 7 or equivalent qualification
