- The Role and Job Description
Reporting to the CEO, The Head of Growth will play a critical role in expanding Inclusive Employers' membership base, driving sales growth, and cultivating meaningful relationships with current and prospective clients. You will lead and develop the engine of the business to ensure Inclusive Employers remains at the forefront of the Inclusion sector. This is a senior leadership role that involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, including marketing, product, membership, training, consultancy and finance, to achieve our goals.
At IE, we develop our business through a combination of new business and deepening our relationships with our existing clients through both inbound and outbound activities. This role will cover both of these areas.
This position calls for a hands on sales leader with a proven track record in leading B2B sales, ideally within the HR industry where relationship building is very important, strong strategic and operational capabilities, with the ability to lead a team, personally contribute and deliver.
You'll play a pivotal role in ensuring IE's business development efforts contribute directly to achieving commercial success - and be able to demonstrate this.
Leadership:
- Lead a BD/Account Management function who efficiently and effectively deliver on the key targets and metrics for retaining members and deepening member relationships, growing ARR.
- Be a collaborative leader, working alongside a peer group including Head of Consultancy, Head of Training, Head of Membership, Senior Finance Manager, and a Marketing Director
- Use your understanding of the external market to train and develop the IE Team around relationship sales
- Be part of the IE Leadership Team, contribute broadly across IE and behave in line with the IE ‘Deal' (leadership framework) at all times
Strategy:
- Responsible for the business development strategy to meet our stated financial targets
- Develop the membership value proposition
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities across various sectors (private, public, 3rd) to drive sales growth through growing our membership, training and consultancy including our CMI and IES products
- Work closely with the Marketing Director to develop effective and measurable strategies to gain new clients.
- Work closely with the product team to ensure that IE is delivering the products relevant for a changing and complex marketplace, and demonstrating the impact we are having with organisations
- Collaborate closely with the executive team to ensure business development efforts align with the organization's overall strategic direction
Relationship Building:
- Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with key clients & potential clients that fit our ICP
- Cultivate strategic partnerships with organisations, government bodies, and other relevant stakeholders to amplify Inclusive Employers' impact
- Represent Inclusive Employers at industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities to promote the organization's services and brand
Client Engagement & Sales Generation:
- Meet your own personal BD target through the acquisition of new clients and business through effective sales techniques, outreach, and proposals
- Negotiate and close deals with new clients, ensuring a clear understanding of their needs and aligning our solutions accordingly
- Develop, monitor and report on business development KPIs and financial performance, ensuring alignment with budgeted targets
Market Intelligence & Innovation:
- Stay up to date with market trends, competitor activities, and new opportunities in the diversity and inclusion space
- Continuously seek ways to innovate and improve Inclusive Employers' offerings to meet the evolving needs of our clients
- Provide strategic insights to the leadership team based on market analysis, client feedback, and emerging D&I trends
Budget and Pipeline Data Management:
- Ensure marketing budget is utilised on business development work, with spend aligned with business priorities and delivering ROI
- Owner of HubSpot pipeline, ensuring data accuracy and integrity
- Develop and embed effective pipeline management processes, training and controls
- Resources Available
- Business Development team, Account Management team and Product team.
- BAU marketing budget for activity such as conference attendance and networking/hosting events
Requirements
You must be able to demonstrate that you have most of the following:-
( All points 1, 2, 3, 4 and 6 in bold are the minimum criteria for this role )
- Proven experience in new and existing business development, sales and partnership / account management. (B2B)
- Experience of working within the Diversity and Inclusion, HR, corporate training or similar business services sectors
- Clear understanding of D&I issues and a personal passion for promoting inclusive and equitable workplaces
- Demonstrated ability to lead a team and drive business growth in a competitive environment
- Excellent relationship-building and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage and influence senior-level decision-makers
- Strong commercial acumen with a demonstratable track record of achieving targets and business goals
- Strong systems competencies and data-centric approach with previous experience owning and managing HubSpot pipeline
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to tailor messaging for different audiences
- High level of self-motivation, resilience, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Experience working in a membership-based or subscription model is a plus
- A network of industry contacts in D&I, HR, or related fields is highly desirable
- A growth mindset and curiosity to learn in new and evolving areas, particularly around new BD strategies and the use of technology
