Your Role: Hands-On, Impactful, and Fast-Paced As a Geotechnical Project Engineer, in Charleston, South Carolina, you will oversee the development and execution of geotechnical engineering projects across neighboring regions. Your duties will involve directing subsurface explorations, evaluating slope stability, supporting construction activities, and more. These projects will cover various civil infrastructure initiatives, including roads, bridges, and structural systems. What You'll Do: * Data Interpretation: Analyze and synthesize geotechnical field data and lab test outcomes to inform effective project strategies and execution. * Geotechnical Expertise: Apply advanced engineering methods to evaluate foundation design, slope performance, and settlement characteristics, recommending ground improvement techniques when necessary. * Collaboration & Mentorship: Coordinate closely with clients and subcontractors to align with project goals, while mentoring junior team members and contributing to S&ME's strategic growth. * Reporting & Proposals: Produce comprehensive technical reports, prepare in-depth proposals, and participate in marketing and business development efforts. * Leadership & Standards: Lead by example by promoting safety, risk mitigation, quality assurance, and high standards in project delivery. What We're Looking For: * Bachelor's degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering, Mining, or a related engineering field * Minimum of 4 years of professional experience * Professional Engineer (PE) license or the ability to obtain * Excellent computer skills including at a minimum, Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, AutoCAD What to Expect: With the use of Company-provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). * Outdoor, hands-on work in all weather conditions * Walking over rough terrain and standing for long periods (up to 12 hours) * Lifting and carrying 40-50 lbs. of materials and equipment * Safely handling field tools and maneuvering equipment on active construction sites Why Join S&ME?
