Job Description
The Field Service Engineer or Field Service Representative (FSR) will be responsible for providing on-site technical customer service. This position will include chemistry tests, chemical feed and control equipment maintenance, chemical inventory management, technical recommendations, and written service reports. This is a customer facing position.
Main Responsibilities
Ensure compliance with all aspects of safety on the job – including the operation and maintenance of an assigned company vehicle – and comply with all VEOLIA Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) policies and Italian laws
Install and service chemical feed and water treatment and chemical feed equipment at designated locations
Act as technical consultant and liaison with customer management and technical counterparts
Perform water analysis and/or collect samples for preparation, labeling and shipment to designated laboratory for analysis
Work with PLC controls, understands water process treatment design, and repairs pumps, instruments and control panels
Conduct preventive maintenance and calibrates feed pumps, controllers, feed rate charts and maintain log sheets
Maintain inventory of spare parts (lube oil, tubing, and piping), and adequate supply of reagents, sample containers, and shipment containers necessary for routine as well as special sampling and analysis
Travel to customer sites and perform preventive maintenance and related services
Troubleshoot and repairs pumps, instruments and control panels. Calibrate feed pumps, controllers, feed rate charts and maintain log sheets. Conduct preventative maintenance on chemical feed pumps, controllers and instrumentation.
Work closely with Sales to provide insight into new instrument and new service opportunities as well as upsell service and consumables at existing customer sites based on need
Work frequently in a heavy industrial environment requiring use of Personal Safety Equipment and exposure to noise, dust, chemicals and other similar irritants typical of those found in refinery, chemical plants, power plants, etc…
Optimize system performance
Drives Value Generation Plan on assigned customer
Responsible for efficient week planning, service optimization & time spend vs contract
Qualifications
Qualifications/Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Engineering or similar
Possession of driving license required (license B)
IT Proficiency
Fluent in English & Italian
Ability and willingness to travel regularly within assigned territory, at times requiring overnight stay, as required
Desired Characteristics
At least six months of relevant work experience (e.g. internships, training, initial professional experience)
Proven time management and organizational skills to quickly identify and prioritize issues
Create solutions and meet deadlines
Ability to exercise independent judgment consistent with department guidelines
Maintain workflow and anticipate future needs of the team
Self-motivated, with the ability to drive projects to completion with minimal oversight
Team player with strong interpersonal skills, capable of working within a globally diverse team across different time zones
