Position Summary: Engineering Project Lead provides project leadership to engineers and other technical team members in the activity of ideation, design engineering and product development in support of planned revenue and margin growth. Possessing strong project leadership skills, exceptional technical capability, and demonstrated teamwork, the Engineering Project Lead may participate in establishing business vision, strategy, and direction involvement in WARN's phase gate product development process (or customer specific process), which translates into products and execution consistent with Warn's core values and procedures. The Engineering Project Lead is accountable to the assigned Engineering Manager, Director of Engineering or VP of Engineering for all engineering matters related to the Engineering Team Lead's assigned business. The Engineering Project Lead is an integral part of project execution within their team, often personally performing critical engineering tasks required for successful fulfillment of customer and technology requirements. Working with minimal or no direction, applies extensive and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices in broad areas of assignment and related fields. Essential Functions: * May be assigned project responsibility for projects involving tooling budgets up to $2,000,000 and potential annual sales of up to $50,000,000. * Will coordinate multiple small projects and several large projects simultaneously. * Collaborate and coordinate with other WARN functional groups, suppliers and customers. * Identifies root causes of problems; recommends and/or implements corrective measures. * Ensures compliance with applicable company and customer quality requirements in all assigned programs, functions, products, and areas. * Estimates engineering specifications, time, and costs necessary to complete projects. * Directs the efforts of other engineers, section leads, contractors and team members to assure successful project completion * May manage projects within the team, between internal teams, and projects in support of customer expectations and new product development. * Ensures engineering work complies with WARN standards, meets requirements of product specifications and captures critical to quality (CTQ) requirements including performance and cost. * Ensures products meet safety and regulatory compliance. * May lead continuous process improvement and problem-solving activities as necessary. May also problem solve individually as job duties require. * Identifies and manages design related project risks to better ensure project success. Risk reduction may involve negotiation of project scope, application of additional resources, early concept testing and evaluation of customer product use. Works with the larger team to manage and mitigate risks project wide. * In association with the Engineering Manager, Director of Engineering or VP of Engineering, participates in the development and maintenance of budgets, provides estimations of workload and personnel needs; schedules and assigns work within team to meet customer requirements. * In support of project effort tracking, Engineering Team Lead will review and monitor project time logs filled out by team members. * Ensure a collaborative and productive coordination with other WARN functional groups, suppliers and customers. * Helps to promote seamless integration with cross functional departments to ensure project and technology programs are properly supported. * Travel time up to 20% as required. * Excellent verbal and written communication skills. * Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail * May participate in the Warn Industries selection process as necessary. * May be assigned engineering maintenance responsibilities for major product lines. * Hands-on work on shop floor as job requires. * Represents Warn with dignity, professionalism and good faith at events and customer contact and interactions. * Accountable for Sarbanes-Oxley compliance in assigned area. Responsible for design and operating effectiveness of internal controls, including a self-assessment and report to management. * Accountable for developing and monitoring processes and practices necessary for legal and ethical compliance in assigned area. * Responsible for prompt and regular attendance on-site or remote as appropriate or required. * Work safely and without injury. Required Education and/or Experience: * Bachelor of Science degree (Engineering or other technical focus preferred). * Three or more years of hands-on engineering or product design and development encompassing all phases from concept realization through prototype build, evaluation, and volume production implementation. * Two or more years' experience in a high volume, manufacturing environment is preferred. * Mentoring or similar leadership experience. * Preferred: PMI certified or equivalent PMBOK training certificate with application experience. Required Qualifications: * Demonstrated team and project leadership experience is required. * Must be skilled in the facilitation of all activities necessary to a project's completion. * Product design and development experience of high-volume consumer products. * Working knowledge of CAD programs - preferably NX. * Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, Project, and Outlook). * Working knowledge of Warn Industries Quality Tools (SPC, GDT, FMEA, DFA/M, etc.). * Working knowledge of FEA (finite element analysis) preferred. * Working knowledge of common rapid prototyping techniques preferred. * Ability to work with minimal supervision. * Ability to work collaboratively and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, customers and visitors. * Ability to facilitate activities necessary to a project's completion. * Must be enthusiastic about adopting Warn's Core Values - Never Compromise Trust, Honesty, Partner with Customers, Commitment, Teamwork, Personal Development, Lead by Example. * Must have history of impeccable integrity, ethics, and fair play. * Working knowledge of common tooled production part manufacturing methods (die casting, injection molding, powder metal, etc.). * Ability to effectively problem-solve and lead problem-solving activities. * Ability to establish and execute work plans based on the results of strategic planning and input from upper management. * Excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills. Language Skills: Ability to read, write, verbalize and comprehend instructions and correspondence at the highest levels in the English language. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and group situations to customers, clients, and other team members. Conflict resolution skills. Excellent interpersonal skills. Excellent verbal and customer service skills. Mathematical Skills: Must have mathematical skills equivalent to those required under degree requirement. Environment/Atmospheric Conditions: Must be able to work in an office environment as well as a shop environment as job duties require. May be exposed to loud operating machinery, cold temperatures, chemicals, and vapors. Machines, Tools Equipment, Software: Personal computer, copy machine, other office equipment, Microsoft Office, PowerPoint. May minimally operate shop equipment such as assembly presses, manual and CNC machines, basic hand tools.
