Engineering Manager – Machine Learning

A mission-driven AI scale-up in San Francisco is expanding its machine learning learning team, hiring a hands-on engineering manager. You’d lead a small team and remain involved with hands on applied ML work – building, fine tuning and deploying models into production.

They’re using LLMs and cutting-edge ML to solve massive challenges in healthcare and they’re scaling fast.

What You’ll Do

• Lead and grow a high-performing ML team
• Drive end-to-end LLM development: fine-tuning, deployment, evaluation
• Build tools to streamline the ML lifecycle
• Collaborate across research, engineering, and product teams
• Balance big ideas with production-grade execution

What You Bring

• 7+ years in ML, 2+ years leading engineering teams
• Deep experience training and deploying open source LLMs (ideally Llama and Mistral)
• Strong with Python, PyTorch, Kubernetes
• Skilled communicator and team builder
• MS/PhD in CS or related field preferred
