They are looking for a highly experienced Engineering Manager with deep expertise in card processing, cross-border payments, core banking, and payment gateways to provide strategic direction and lead our engineering team in Pune.

Position Overview:

As an Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for leading a high-performing engineering team focused on delivering scalable and secure payment solutions in the card processing, cross-border payments, and payment gateway domains. You will provide strategic technical direction, drive innovation, and ensure the alignment of engineering efforts with the company's long-term goals. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in the payments industry and a strong background in core banking systems and payment gateway technologies.

Key Responsibilities:

• Strategic Leadership: Provide technical and strategic direction for the development of cutting-edge card processing and cross-border payment solutions, ensuring alignment with the company’s overall business strategy.
• Payment Systems Expertise: Oversee the design, development, and scaling of card processing platforms, cross-border payment solutions, and integrated payment gateways with a strong focus on security, compliance, and performance.
• Core Banking and Payment Gateway Systems: Manage and enhance core banking systems and payment gateway integrations, ensuring seamless transactions, data security, and regulatory compliance (e.g., PCI-DSS).
• Team Management: Lead and mentor a team of engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Ensure high-quality engineering practices and adherence to project deadlines.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with product management, business development, and operations teams to align engineering efforts with business requirements and deliver impactful products.
• Product Roadmap & Strategy: Define and execute the technical roadmap, making decisions on platform architecture, scaling strategies, and integration with global payment networks.
• Regulatory Compliance & Security: Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations, including PCI-DSS, AML (Anti-Money Laundering), KYC (Know Your Customer), and cross-border payment regulations.
• Innovation & Industry Trends: Stay up-to-date with emerging trends in card processing, cross-border payments, fintech, and related technologies, recommending innovations to drive the business forward.
• Quality Assurance & Performance: Ensure the engineering team builds high-quality, performant, and scalable payment solutions that meet global transaction volume requirements and provide exceptional user experiences.
• Problem-Solving & Troubleshooting: Lead efforts in identifying, troubleshooting, and resolving complex technical issues in payment systems, ensuring high availability and low latency.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 15-18 years of experience in software engineering, with at least 6-8 years in Engineering Management roles.
• Deep expertise in card processing systems, cross-border payments, core banking systems, and payment gateway technologies (e.g., credit card processing, digital wallets, international money transfer).
• Strong technical background in payment technologies, including familiarity with card networks (Visa, Mastercard), EMV, tokenization, and fraud detection systems.
• Extensive experience with building and scaling payment systems, APIs, and microservices architectures.
• Proven track record in leading teams that deliver complex payment solutions with a focus on security, scalability, and regulatory compliance.
• In-depth understanding of global payment ecosystems, including cross-border payment regulations, SWIFT, SEPA, and ISO20022 messaging standards.
• Expertise in working with core banking systems and integrating them with external payment gateways and financial networks.
• Strong proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Python, C++, or similar technologies.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Proven ability to define and implement a technical strategy, working with senior leadership to drive company goals forward.
• Exceptional leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with fintech regulatory requirements (e.g., PCI-DSS, AML, KYC) and a strong commitment to data security.
• Familiarity with agile methodologies, DevOps practices, and CI/CD pipelines.
