Engineering Manager Job Description

The Engineering Manager is responsible for overseeing the technical design, development, and execution of renewable energy projects (solar, wind, BESS) in the Philippines. This role ensures that all engineering activities meet regulatory, environmental, safety, and quality standards while driving project efficiency, innovation, and operational excellence. The Engineering Manager leads a team of engineers, consultants, and contractors, managing engineering deliverables from project development through construction and handover.

Key Responsibilities

A. Engineering and Technical Management

• Lead and coordinate all engineering activities for projects under development, construction, and operation.
• Oversee detailed design reviews, ensuring compliance with project specifications, local codes, international standards, and best practices.
• Validate technical studies (e.g., energy yield assessments, geotechnical reports, grid studies).
• Define technical requirements for RFPs and tenders; review contractor proposals.
• Manage interface between engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning teams.

B. Project Management Support

• Support Project Managers in planning, scheduling, budgeting, and risk management from a technical standpoint.
• Monitor project execution to ensure technical alignment with approved designs and project goals.
• Proactively identify and address engineering issues, proposing cost-effective and timely solutions.
• Coordinate with regulatory agencies for permitting and compliance.

C. Team Leadership and Collaboration

• Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing engineering team.
• Manage external engineering consultants and subcontractors.
• Foster strong collaboration with Business Development, Construction, O&M, HSE, and other internal teams.

D. Compliance and Quality Assurance

• Establish and implement quality control protocols for engineering deliverables.
• Ensure compliance with Philippine regulations, environmental standards, and company policies.
• Promote a strong health, safety, and environmental (HSE) culture within the engineering team.

E. Reporting and Documentation

• Provide regular technical reports to senior management on project progress, risks, and opportunities.
• Maintain complete and organized engineering documentation and as-built records.

Key Qualifications

• Licensed Electrical Engineer in the Philippines.
• Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience, with at least 3 years in an engineering leadership role.
• Strong background in renewable energy (solar PV, onshore wind, BESS) is highly preferred.
• Experience with design, permitting, construction, and commissioning phases of renewable energy projects.
• Proficient in engineering software tools (AutoCAD, PVSyst, ETAP, or equivalent).
• Solid understanding of Philippine electrical, civil, and environmental codes and standards.
• Proven ability to manage internal teams, external consultants, and EPC contractors.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
• Fluent in English; proficiency in Filipino preferred.

Working Conditions

• Based at the Alba Renewables Philippines Office, with regular travel to project sites.
• Flexibility to adapt work hours depending on project needs, including occasional weekends.
• Field visits may involve exposure to outdoor weather conditions and construction site environments.
