Long O Donnell Associates is continually recognised as a world class consultant providing engineering, project and programme management and commercial solutions, to our clients within the energy, infrastructure, and Governmental sectors.

We are looking for an experienced Project Engineer / Senior Engineer who has broad experience in Energy Management, ideally in the Water/Utilities Industry.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Implementation of ISO 50001- Energy management systems nationally and across 80 main sites of the business.
  • Assist in the development of ISO documentation and Information supporting certification of ISO 50001- Energy management systems
  • Support business Energy users to include training, communication, document control and record management, work instructions/SOPs for factors impacting energy performance and identification of opportunities for improvement
  • Support onsite surveys and Operational Control of internal audits across 80 large sites (WTP and WWTP)
  • Review and record site operation and maintenance criteria and records where there are risks of significant deviations in energy performance.
  • Identification of opportunities for improvement
  • Support in reviewing performance of assets and generation of plans to improve efficiency and energy performance.
  • Assist in rolling out onsite training and engagement packs for frontline operation staff (operators, engineers and managers)
  • Support management of Corrective and Preventative Actions arising Operational Control Internal Audits.


Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • Relevant third level qualification e.g. Degree in Mechanical or Electrical, or related area, or relevant experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in the water, utilities or similar industries is desirable.
  • Practical understanding of the water/wastewater industry with the ability to interpret technical information relating to operational activities e.g. drawings, specifications etc.
  • Strong communication skills with a proven track record of successfully interacting with a diverse range of departments/stakeholders e.g. Finance, Design, Water, Waste, Regional Operations.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to identify and analyse problems and potential improvements.
  • REQUIRED Full Irish driving licence
