Responsible for the conceptual design, component specification, system hardware design, and programming. Will work closely with other engineers and technical staff. Responsibilities also include providing engineering support for field service technicians and providing technical training as needed. Supports the existing products and works within the constraints of existing methods and standards. Up to 20% domestic travel may be required, with international travel being a possibility. Requires the ability to apply the principles of electrical and electronic theory and related experience to design, program, and troubleshoot state-of-the-art packaging machinery. Knowledge to read and troubleshoot ladder logic within motion controls, including programming of servo drives.
Responsibilities
Must have design problem-solving skills and be able to work in a team environment.
Customize program features based on customer specifications.
Run initial commissioning of machines using the developed program. Debug any issues that may occur during initial testing.
Collaborate with the team on research and development projects that could be implemented on future projects.
Support customer service with programming of replacement components as needed.
Create wiring schematics, program diagrams, and complete bill of materials.
Strong communication skills.

Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent work experience in capital equipment design and service.
2-4 years of related electrical design experience.
Proficient in the use of CAD software for electrical design documentation utilizing SolidWorks Electrical, AutoCAD, or similar system.
In-depth understanding of PLC hardware, software platforms, and HMI programming.
Programming of PLC systems (Allen-Bradley, CODESYS, Bosch RexRoth, Siemens, Beckhoff, etc.).
Experienced in IEC programming languages, Ladder logic, Function blocks, and Structured text.
Web development skills preferred: HTML, JavaScript, CSS, SQL, Python, and Visual Basic.
Ability to travel up to 20%, including internationally.
