Design & Development Responsibilities
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to conceptualize, design, and develop mechanical and physical systems, components, and prototypes.
- Develop and complete validation plans and procedures to ensure product reliability, performance, and safety.
- Apply analytical tools and software to assess and optimize mechanical and physical characteristics of products.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation, including design specifications, test results, and validation reports (DVP).
- Identify areas for process optimization and contribute to continuous improvement of engineering practices.
- Work closely with interdisciplinary teams to integrate mechanical and physical systems into larger projects.
Testing & Validation Responsibilities
- Manage system-level DVP documentation using standard templates.
- Coordinate the completion of all virtual system DVP testing.
- Oversee all bench-related system testing with nominated suppliers to ensure timely DVP completion.
- Work with testing suppliers to debug and triage ongoing test issues.
- Lead mid-test (as needed) and end-of-test inspections with Product Release team members to evaluate test outcomes.
- Complete end-of-test reports using the provided template.
- Triage vehicle testing at all Product Groups (PGs) within 24 hours.
- Support Mule1/Mule2 vehicle issue triage related to transmission within 24 hours.
- Assist with pre-pilot and launch activities at transmission manufacturing facilities and vehicle plants (Kokomo).
- Initiate and respond to validation issues documented in the Issue Management system (GIMS).
Qualifications
- B.S. in Mechanical, Aerospace, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent degree/experience.
- Minimum of 3 years of engineering experience in driveline, transmission, or electrified powertrain hardware, calibration, or controls development.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Proficient in basic PC software (MS Word, Excel, Project).
- Highly motivated, self-directed, capable of managing multiple projects with a positive attitude.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree or equivalent experience in engineering.
- Experience in electrified powertrain, transmission, or driveline design, development, and testing.
- Proficiency with software tools such as Vector tools and INCA.
- Knowledge of calibration, efficiency, and/or thermal management systems.
- Solid understanding of electrified powertrain and driveline operation, including gears, clutches, and electrohydraulic components.
- Hands-on experience with in-vehicle or dynamometer testing procedures.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- A continuous learner with a drive for improvement.
The pay range that the employer in good faith reasonably expects to pay for this position is $25.43/hour - $39.73/hour. Our benefits include medical, dental, vision and retirement benefits. Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis.
