Position Overview: The Junior Design Engineer is responsible for supporting the design and development of components, assemblies, and systems for aerospace and defence applications. Working under the guidance of senior engineers, the role involves creating detailed designs, performing basic analysis, and collaborating across departments to ensure manufacturability and compliance with industry standards. Design Analysis: Conduct basic stress, thermal, and vibration analyses using simulation tools like ANSYS or Abaqus. Review analysis results and suggest design improvements for performance optimization. Assist in the evaluation of prototypes and recommend necessary design modifications. 3. Product Development Support: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, quality, and testing, to ensure the feasibility and reliability of designs. Support new product development (NPD) projects, ensuring timely delivery of design milestones. Participate in design reviews to provide input on design feasibility, risks, and opportunities for improvement. 4. Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance design workflows and implement efficiency improvements. Stay updated on advancements in materials, technologies, and tools relevant to aerospace and defence design. 5. Compliance and Documentation: Ensure that all design activities adhere to company policies and regulatory requirements. Maintain accurate records of design iterations and ensure proper version control of engineering documentation. Qualifications and Skills: Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or related Engineering discipline. A postgraduate degree or certifications in design tools or aerospace engineering is a plus. Experience: 1-3 years of experience in design engineering, preferably in the aerospace or defense manufacturing industry. Experience with design and analysis tools during internships or previous roles is required. Technical Skills: Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., CATIA, SolidWorks, Siemens NX). Familiarity with FEA tools like ANSYS or Abaqus for basic analysis tasks. Knowledge of GD&T and technical drawing standards.
