Overview
Seeking an experienced Data/Database Architect with 5–8 years of experience in data architecture, specifically within the healthcare domain. This is a 9-month contract-to-hire hybrid role based in Reston, VA, starting with one day a week onsite (may increase to three). The position supports enterprise-wide projects and involves collaboration with Solution Architects and cross-functional teams.
Position
Data/Database Architect responsible for designing modern, scalable data architecture solutions involving Mainframe (DB2), MongoDB, and AWS technologies (Aurora Postgres, Redshift). The role requires handling multiple projects simultaneously and working closely with teams through the full project lifecycle—from initiation to delivery.
Responsibilities
- Create and maintain domain architecture viewpoints and models (current, interim, target state).
- Perform modeling and analysis to meet performance, security, and compliance needs.
- Collaborate on the design and implementation of solution assets.
- Lead architecture reviews and publish work in repositories.
- Engage with stakeholders to align technical solutions with business needs.
- Research emerging trends and guide vendor/tool selection.
- Enhance domain architecture methods, tools, and communication materials.
- Support annual planning and provide input to roadmaps and enterprise architecture.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field (or 4 additional years of experience in lieu of degree).
- 8+ years in Architecture Domain with leadership responsibilities.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in the healthcare domain.
- Experience with DB2/Mainframe, MongoDB, AWS Aurora Postgres, Redshift.
- Strong skills in SQL, data modeling, and architecture frameworks.
- Ability to manage cross-domain impacts and lead technical sessions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree.
- Experience across 2–3 architecture domains.
- Certified System Architect preferred.

- Final interview: In-person with Hiring Manager
- Must be able to work onsite in Reston, VA (hybrid setup)
- Strong interpersonal, stakeholder communication, and collaboration skills required
- Must be eligible to work on federal healthcare-related programs
